If you "love" someone and they don't know it, then it's probably not love. Perhaps it's strong emotion or even lust, but love is an action between two people. If you loved him, he wouldn't be left in the dark.

If you "like" him and want to go out, then just tell him you like him and want to go out. He'll either share the sentiment and you'll go out or you'll have things set straight. Just don't fuss around with it. People often overthink this. Be open and just say it.

I won't say anything else......if he wants to be just friends then that is cool too. If he doesn't want either then I'll just accept it.
