Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon has died.

82 years old, he apparently died today due to complications from heart surgery he had three weeks back.

R.I.P. to an amazing dude and a brave mother trucker.

Nonetheless, RIP. Whether you were part of a conspiracy or not, you captured the dreams of many a young man wanting to explore the great beyond of outer space and become an astronaut.

I will never have even a thimbleful of the guts that Armstrong had. He chose to fly into space at a time when successfully launching a spacecraft was very rare. Perhaps even gutsier, he stepped out into space with no guarantee that his suit would protect him. The man performed a very dangerous mission and captured the imagination of the world in the process. He will be missed.

Will he also be buried on the Moon?

While I'm saddened by this, I am also finding joy and inspiration in the completion of a life of a person who did everything he could with the time he had. He made it to 82 not by hiding from danger, but by overcoming it. What a great man.

Call Buzz so we all can shout at the moon in honor of Neil.

All my Googling an hour ago turned up references to references, but it seems official.

In a statement his family said Armstrong had passed away following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures. 1

The world has lost arguably the bravest man of the last century.
