As it's almost the end of the summer, i think it'd be a great idea to go out with a video game bang by doing a marathon of a game where i just play nonstop and have all my favorite foods nearby. Problem is i don't have a good game to play, so i need some recommendations. I want an rpg with the classic swords, bows, etc. on the Xbox 360 or something similar to the Persona franchise. Any help would be appreciated :D
New game to marathon?
Tales of Vesperia? It's basically a textbook classic fantasy JRPG with all the niceties of modern game design layered on top. IMO the best JRPG available for the 360.
It's the only game I've ever been able to marathon, so that would be a great choice, amazing world with very good visuals and a great soundtrack, pretty alright story with okay characters and a nice combatsystem, overall one of my favorite games this generation.Tales of Vesperia? I would also recommend Lost Odyssey. Star Ocean 4 isn't too bad, but I'd recommend the PS3 version just for the option to turn on Japanese voices. Because the English voice "acting" leaves something to be desired to put it mildly.
I would recommend Dragon's Dogma.
I'm just gonna hop back in and say that I hated Lost Odyssey, or at least the 12 hours of it that I played before giving up. The general aesthetic didn't work for me at all and, more importantly, the battle system simply wasn't any fun.
But that's just me.

And me!
Dragon's Dogma has always been on my list but i saw my friend play through some of it so i was on the fence about it. Lost Odyssey has been brought up constantly, i might try that. I'll keep my eyes on Tales of Vesperia for when the effect of two straight play throughs of Persona 3 wear off. Thanks :D
Tales of Vesperia would be my recommendation. The combat is interesting enough to keep you going when the story becomes bullshit at points. Me and that game have had a love hate relationship for the last year and a half. I will finish it at some point.
@deox: yah i'm not a big stealth RPG guy myself but i'm loving the game so far. doing my first play through now (semi lethal). might do a non lethal run once i finish.
The Witcher 2 if you want something a bit more serious.
or if you can find them, try the first 2 shadow hearts games.
Lost Odyssey is prime for this. Couple summers back I really got into it even though I almost gave up after six hours because I couldn't beat a boss. But the story is pretty dang compelling and I enjoyed the battle system. Not to mention all the flashbacks feature some of the best writing and storytelling I've had the pleasure of reading.
Why do you guys keep bringing up Lost Odyssey?
Sure the characters, story, world and visuals are all right.
But the combat and overall gameplay is the most standard boring innane flate crap I've ever played.
Tales of vesperia, Star ocean TLO and FF13-2 are great.
The Witcher 2 is on my top 3 games of all time if you're looking for a Western RPG

no death non lethal run of dues ex: HR ?
i tried this. wasn't as fun. like its not really much harder either. my first playthrough i only killed guys i KNEW were evil bad guys, and even then i rarely did it. but limiting myself to the tranq rifle and taser and takedowns felt, well. boring.
the most fun playthrough id id of that was with just a upgraded pistol and the taser. thats ALL i carried weapon-wise. it was awesome.
