Ya I just got their recent album, and a lot of it is nothing really new and its a lot more of a lighter style then it was before. Rise Against was never anything super original or new but this new album takes a turn into being a lot of the same old same old
"Goodbye, punk credibility! Are you serious? They never, ever were punk. Swing Life Away? Ever heard of it?
Probably shouldn't talk, having the avatar that I do ;)"
"PercyChuggs said:Nothing nowadays is punk. The entire genre that people place bands under and call "punk" isn't even accurate anymore. I would of thought any moron would know this. They use to actually have some good music though, but I can't say I'm surprised, it happens to everyone in music or even games when something has been around for a while or overstayed its welcome."Goodbye, punk credibility! Are you serious? "PercyChuggs said:Their first album, the Unraveling, was actually pretty punk. But after each progressive album, they dropped off some punk. Now they are hardly recognizable. I know these types of things happen to almost every band, but I had faith in Rise Against."Goodbye, punk credibility! Are you serious? They never, ever were punk. Swing Life Away? Ever heard of it?"

As for Rise Against and whether they're crap or not... Well, I reserve my judgment there. Anyway, it seemed pretty clear to me that the little boy "playing" with the world was symbolic of George W. Bush. I think this whole thing was a "farewell and good riddance" to him, potently symbolized by him being tucked in at night. I mean, all of the signs were clear: the economy, banning gay marriage, the Iraq War (including the torture of Iraqi POWs), etc. Pretty straightforward.
"TheGTAvaccine said:This. They call themselves melodic hardcore now, the only true punk album they had was the unraveling and some of revolutions per minute."PercyChuggs said:Their first album, the Unraveling, was actually pretty punk. "TheGTAvaccine said:Now we are just getting too technical and elitist. There are plenty of good punk bands that are around today, bad religion, face to face, nofx, descendents, MDC, Rancid, and plenty of others, Just because they make one song off an entire album that isnt punk doesnt mean they are not a punk band anymore."PercyChuggs said:Nothing nowadays is punk.
