New Simpsons intro sequence

#1 Edited by HazBazz (1901 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

The Simpsons will begin airing in HD for Season 20, and with it comes with a brand new intro sequence

Some nice little touches, like the family's new widescreen LCD, and Sherri and Terri playing Game Boys. Now, start talking about how The Simpsons stopped being funny around Season 12

My mind is blown. In a good way. That wasn't half bad.

I've always loved the Simpsons, people only say they're bad because they want to seem cool.

I actually do like the new episodes, I was just predicting what this thread will inevitably lead to

The Simpsons stopped being funny at season 12.

And it started being funny the next episode of season 12.

The show hasn't been funny in years besides the odd solid gag here and there but it's nice to know they haven't fully given up yet.

#7 Posted by HazBazz (1901 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

I just noticed the Mr Sparkle box is in the checkout scene, and laughed

Brilliant.

Although the show's gotten a bit stale over the years it's still good. And the new intro is really awesome. I grew up whatching Simpsons and I hope they'll run forever :)

I love the Simpsons so much. I feel guilty for not watching it over the past few years. I will start with the new season. When I first heard that there was going to be a new intro I was all like "No, they can't!" but after seeing it, I must say I am impressed. I can't wait. The Simpsons is still the best animated show of all time in my eyes. I am glad it isn't going to change.

#11 Edited by SmugDarkLoser (4619 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

So is the level of animation going to be up to the movie?  Because the intro reminds me of so.

but lolmygod.  After so many years of seeing the normal intro and then homer just being hit by the car...wow, so funny.

Yeah I agree.
Not too keen on the new intro though, probably because I'm so used to the other one having seen it a few thousand times. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

It's kinda cool they decided to update it after all these years. I like how they still included the most memorable parts from the old intro, and just added more to them. I did think the runaway couch was kinda unnecessary, but it will no doubt be cut out completely after this first HD episode.

At first I was thinking that thing with the sofa was dumb but when I saw them in space I couldn't help but giggle.

#15 Posted by SmugDarkLoser (4619 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

^ Have you never seen the simpsons?  Each intro ends in a different way of sitting down (basically).
Really?

#16 Posted by ez123 (1741 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

Saw it yesterday and it's cool. The episode was pretty good, too.  I know this is an Off-Topic forum but...... The Simpson's Game had great cutscenes and commentary on gaming.

It looks that way. I noticed theres no shadows, which the movie had. But it will be screening in widescreen, which of course the previous episodes don't.

Well yeah, of course the couch gag will change, just like every episode.

The Simpsons has always seemed funny to me, I've never noticed a dip in the quality, but I've never laughed out loud at it either.

Kinda of liked the redesign. Simpsons is rarely funny to me now though

Looks awesome, I remember Family Guy came out and all the Simpsons hate started, I was the only one defending my childhood cartoon from those dicks, now family guy is starting to get old and they haven`t been on that long at all.

I really like it, it looks really good! I'm also happy to see it finally in HD, that's pretty cool!

indeed.  family guy really is sort of dying.  i think the spin off with cleveland will kill them both.

I personally think King of the Hill and Futurama are better than family guy

Actually, this season hasn't been half bad. I mean, it isn't a return to the glory days of Mel Gibson and Homer's remake of "Mr.Smith goes to Washington," but it's not awful like last season.

The Simpsons is, has always been, and will always be THE SHIT!!!

The new intro is good.  The couch gag lasted far too long, but other than that, I wasn't offended by the change.  Solid stuff indeed.

It's gonna be a sad day in the world when The Simpsons goes off the air someday...
...if it ever does.  lol

Also, I think everyone should submit videos to this thread of themselves doing the Bartman to "Do The Bartman"!!!

Saw it last night. Looks great.

#27 Posted by Willy105 (4663 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

TOO MUCH CHANGE!!!

But I like how it has become aware of all the changes the show had in 20 years.

#28 Posted by Bigbombomb (666 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

I saw it yesterday. I'm glad that they didn't compelety change it and just updated it so that it was more modern. I would have watched the show in HD but my HDTV was broken...

#29 Posted by solarstone (15 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

i was ready to come in here calling blasphemy, but that was great.

Yes! You are absolutely right my friend, it's just too bad FOX screwed those shows over. The new intro was great btw.

Same here.  I was wondering how they could slightly ruin the greatest show in the history of TV, but it was actually pretty funny and the changes weren't as drastic as I thought they would be.

But the couch gag was excessive... but those change constantly.
#32 Posted by TooWalrus (11815 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

I agree that the newer episodes have been getting stale, but I've still been watching them. Not making sure to watch every week like I used to, but they're up on Hulu.com. I love the new intro, it's everything I would want an updated intro sequence to be, I'm SO glad they didn't change the song, too.

#33 Posted by Dj (912 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

I never knew how much better it could look with a few changes.

#34 Posted by joey (888 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

Im glad they didn't  do a complete overhaul, this is really good.

but I haven't gotten used to their new tv yet...

Yeah, I liked the old purple one, that was homer's special t.v, I wish they would keep it.

Um... I'm always ridiculed for thinking the Simpsons sucks.

But it does, in fact, suck.
#39 Posted by ArbitraryWater (8970 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

That intro was awesome. I liked the part where homer actually gets hit by the car.

Nonetheless, The Simpsons has been going on longer than it should have. But of course, it keeps on going, regardless of the fact that it is nowhere as entertaining as it used to be.

I hope the new season is half as good as the intro, the series has been in decline for a while now.

#43 Posted by jakob187 (20662 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

Everyone says the show sucks and it's in a decline...and yet it's been going FOR 20 SEASONS!!!  Yeah, show must be completely wretched...

The Simpsons, on a bad episode, is better than 90% of the dribble on television.
#44 Posted by SinGulaR (2161 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

If you have the feeling the show is declining you probably just have gotten used to the humor and should take a break watching.

#45 Posted by SoothsayerGB (1824 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

It's ok.  But I haven't enjoyed a Simpson's eps. in a while.  To much slapstick now.  Homer doesn't have the attitude he used too.  Honestly he seems more sensitive/gay now.  I miss old Homer.

The show is still great, I'm just not into the new shows like I am into the older seasons.  Who Shot Mr. Burns was so damn good.

#46 Posted by suneku (2997 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

I finally watched an entire new episode of the Simpsons because it was in HD. And it looked fantastic. So did King of the Hill, just like last week's. Family Guy needs to do this too.

I think the fox was voiced by Johnny Cash. :D

I like the new intro.

I like the new opening.  I've never stopped liking the Simpsons unlike South Park (lost interest after Chef left) or King of the Hill.  I don't think every episode is magic any more like it once was, in fact for a few seasons in recent memory, there were quite a few stinkers.  But, this current season is funny again, and the new opening is indicative of the show's comedic rebirth.  I'm not sure if they've got new writers or directors or what, but the show is now better than it has been in years.

Having said all this, Futurama is still my favorite of these animated shows.  New DVD, February 24th!
#49 Posted by Red (5894 posts) - 4 years, 3 months ago

New episodes of The Simpsons are either horrible or passable. Let's hope with this great new animation the new season is more along the pretty funny side.

The Simpsons stopped getting really, really, incredibly funny around season 9, but it really stopped being funny around season 12.
