I  believe  both have the same meaning.

i have never heard numchuck.

Like a lot of other words, pronounciation depends on where you live.  "Numchucks" and "nunchucks" are both acceptable.  "Nunchaku" is just plain pretentious. 

If nunchaku is plain pretentious (even though correct), numchuck is completely fucking retarded.
