Not really odd, but i love this cover:

And let's not forget their twisted sister - the fire still burns cover:

And here, have a misfits cover for good measure:

Here's a bluegrass of a fairly classic melodeath song.

I was hoping the content of my post would provide adequate context... my apologies good sir, what I am looking for are cover songs that are far removed from the original.

Examples:

Big Poppa!

Doubles as one of the greatest covers as well.

@ShaggE: That awesomeness of this song makes up for the lack of Batman.

@DarthOrange: I like this.

Here's a sweet Czech(?) version of In The Summertime

edit: that channel literally has a thousand covers, and lots of categorized playlists, be back in about a thousand songs guys.

Oh man, I finally get to break this gem out.

And no, there isn't a different "Let it Be" that this is covering.

Needs more Manson....

@Mirado: Best one yet!Partly because the song is awesome in its own right.

Partly because of the way they sing 'biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'.

Partly because of the sick kazoo part.

Partly because it reminds me of Wing.

edit: after listening to Wing's version of Beat It, I want to publicly apologize to the people of Japan for the comments I made earlier.

申し訳ありませんでした

My favorite "odd" cover song.

I'll recycle an answer from another thread to cover (ha!) the rest...

The Gourds cover of "Gin and Juice" is my personal favorite since it's so different from the original but still entertaining.

I listed a bunch more on these older threads (I'm on page two of each).

Other cover song threads:

  1. Any Amazing Song Covers?
  2. What's your favourite cover song?
  3. Covers that are better than the original?
  4. Worst Cover Songs
  5. Worst cover songs ever? ("Punk Goes.." songs not preferable)
  6. Good and bad song covers?

@DudeOlav: I keep thinking they're adding an extra word or they sing a different line every time I hear them go "Biiiii!!!!" ("Letter be, Lady bee, let it be free, oh let it be meeeeee"), which only adds to the charm.

I made a mix for a friend of mine that just contained all sorts of hilarious/awesome foreign covers:

Dead or Alive's "You Spin me Right Round (Like a Record)".......in Icelandic:

Aqua's "Barbie Girl" in Russian....and after inhaling a massive amount of helium. (Actually, this one is kinda accurate, oddly enough)

And finally, "Another One Bites the Dust" in Tagalog. I really love this one, the singer's unflinching resolve to make his language "work" rather then "fit" is admirable. (I think part of that comes from the fact that he is a comedian, but you should have seen the look on my friend's face when I sprung this one on him.)

I got one or two more winners around here somewhere, let me see if I can dig them up.

@Mirado: You sir, know how tickle my funny bone, my chest hurts from laughing.

The combination of the wonky guitar analogue and the sheer frequency of syllables coming out of that man's mouth during the chorus is amazing.
