It seems IE have created an anime mascot for the browser called Inori Aizawa with her own Facebook page too:

Hey everyone! My name is Inori and you can think of me as a personification of Internet Explorer.

When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl.

However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I'm eager to show you what I can do.

Why don't you get to know me a little better?

They have an Inori version of IE for download here.

Amazing stuff.

I'm going to assume that the efficient and relentless robots kicking her ass are the "personification of Chrome".

God damn it.

Ahahaha... I forgot all about IE in general until this popped up.

Wow uh not sure what I could really say about this. Although it's amazing I'm pretty sure a anime girl isn't going to make people switch over to IE.

Ugh. Gross. In other words, "Hey youth market and internet culture! You like anime right? Well come over to IE where we have your anime needs met. Konnichiwa bros!"

#13 Posted by Gaff (1637 posts) -

Slow starting up? Yep, that's the IE I remember.

Yet another reason not to use IE.

Thank god they didn't do panty shots. Why the fuck do they always do panty shots?

The video takes a long time to get going, so I'd say they're really nailing that part.

Fuuuuuck yes!

Work needs to get out faster

I have to see this shit

#20 Posted by jamesyfx (69 posts) -

That looks like the cheesiest thing ever.

.. and then it cuts to a scene where you see Chrome punching Opera in the chest like Smith in the Matrix movies, creating a copy of itself. Yeah I could write for this show!

As lame as this is, I'm not sure why so many folks seem to be shocked. This isn't such a big step up from shit like OS-tans, though I guess it's weird that it's not a Japanese-only thing this time around.

I don't like IE but I'll watch an anime about a girl who also happens to be a web browser. The plot would involve her trying to live a normal life while trying not to show that she is a web browser. Sounds fucking awesome.

IE is pretty good now I have to admit. In fact last month I ran into a website that only really worked on IE. I think it was something like Pitchfork or something. Drop downs windows wouldn't work on other browsers.

Her favorite websites list includes Sankakucomplex... So you have the image of this cute moe character, but silently implying that she's this huge pervert?

What? I... What? This marketing? Are they trying to go after the anime loving crowd? The fuck is their demographic

#32 Posted by TruthTellah (8373 posts) -

Inori Aizawa?

Couldn't they have at least named her Inori Eizawa, aka. IE?

Come on, guys...

#33 Posted by Scampbell (486 posts) -

Well, I guess they would have to do something strange to get our attention back, though I see no reason to go back to IE, especially if it means I'll have to look at Bing again.

Whoever came up with this idea either needs firing or a massive raise. I can't decide which.

As low as the chances are of myself using IE, I do like some of their marketing campaigns. This one is joyfully silly, and I recall one a while back that was an animation involving a writer (if that isn't vague enough for you), which I quite liked.

You still haven't trained enough to beat Chrome and his legion of superpowered uberdorks. Don't let that conquering of the puny Netscape browser go to your title bar, that was nothing.

Meh, fans over there have personified weirder things. Good old XP-tan.
