I guess it depends on the sport? Anyways, I wouldn't know, I haven't had the privilege of attending a major sports event.

NFL, in person.  I've been to 3 Bronco games.  I'm not big into sports but, it was fun.

It's just the environment, the event. Super fun times

I say TV.  I would imagine that being in your sofa at home would be more comfortable than being in the smelly crowd.  I think you would also get a better view of the game, with the cameras and stuff, on tv than sitting in the crowd.

Neither. :P

But, if necessary, on TV...or better yet, on the internet. Why? Because I'm not impressed by seeing things live. Concerts don't impress me. Live performance doesn't impress me. I'm perfectly content to watch it later on the internet. :)

TV with a dvr, so you can watch the awesomeness even more than the instant replays.

For football (soccer) it is much better to watch it in person. (especially at Anfield)

Watching games live is cool... but would I do it every day? Hell NO! The long ass walk from the parking garage, the long ass drive, the huge amounts of traffic, the cost of the food and tickets, it really is hell.

It depends. NBA or NFL is definitely on T.V. Unless you have really good seats or its the the playoffs. In which case the atmosphere is worth the price of admission alone. The MLB or NHL are better suited to live events. The MLB because unless you are really into the game its not much fun but in the stadium its a great experience everyone is dancing, eating hot dogs, yelling things to the guy on deck people just like being in the crowd. As for the NHL although it is getting better to watch on T.V., if you don't have HD its hard to follow all the action because of the speed of the game. But at the end of the day it depends on what you perfer.

I had to go with TV because I do it more, but watching it live is pretty awesome. You feel the atmosphere when there's a big play when you're there. When I watch a game live I miss the play by play. But when you watch a game on TV you don't have to commit to it. If you buy a ticket you pretty much have to watch it. If you watch it on TV you can get up, change the channel etc.

Option 4: Participation!

EDIT: Don't know why it's italicized, and it won't let me not italicize it!

A better question would be: Would you rather play Madden in person or on a T.V?

BOOM! nothing beats playing the sport. But if i have to choose, seeing it live is the way to go even if you have to sit in the nose bleeds.

Depends on the sport. I went to see some racing at Donnington once and only being able to see one corner where the cars spend roughly 5 seconds is so boring.

I'm not a sports fan by any stretch but I'd assume it'd be better in person, as long as you have good seats.

It might depend on the sport, but baseball is always better in person.  It doesn't seem so long and drawn out when enjoyed at the ballpark.

There really is nothing like walking into the stands at Croke Park
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croke_Park

, walking around the stadium the crowd noise is quite muted. But the minute you enter the stand its like a huge bomb went off. 82,300 people make a fabulous noise.Tickets are cheap too.
