I decided to do this poll do to Battlefield 3 not supporting Windows XP. I thought before I start saying anything, I need to see how many people are running the latest operating system.
Right now I'm running Windows 7. The 64 bit version.
PC owners. What OS are you currently running
I have a laptop running OS X and Ubuntu 10.04, I have a gaming desktop running Windows 7, and I have a school/work desktop running CentOS 5.
" @timmysprinkles said:CentOS 5 is the exact same thing as Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It's the EXACT same thing except the name was changed, the logo was changed, and it's free." I have a laptop running OS X and Ubuntu 10.04, I have a gaming desktop running Windows 7, and I have a school/work desktop running CentOS 5. "I never heard of CentOS 5. Is that a form of Linux or another OS that's not that popular? "
Red Hat costs money because they sell support with their operating system but I don't need it. I'm only training to become a Red Hat Sysadmin so I don't need the support.
On topic: Vista 32 bit.
Main Computer: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, VMWare(Solaris)
Server: Windows Server 2003
Laptop 1: Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
Laptop 2: Windows XP Home 32-bit
Hell no are they going to support XP. They want to make use of the new direct x technology, and they can't do that if they maintain legacy support for XP.
As you're a pc gamer, I assume you know you can get some idea of OS penetration among the gaming community by checking on the steam hardware survey. I was personally massively surprised by how rapid Windows 7 adoption has been after the backlash against vista. I haven't had any particular problems with vista, but of course I'll be moving to 7 when I build the new pc in a couple of months.
I'm using my desktop PC right now which runs WinXP but I chose Win7 (32bit) cause that's what's on my laptop which I've been using all year (kicked its pre-installed Vista to the curb cause it just slowed things down..). Now after going back to using XP for a few days, I realize that Win7 actually runs a little better and is more comfy after you get used to the changes (omg! they changed something! it's the end of the world!!)
edit: seriously? you included Win95 and Win3.11? :D I think I threw my Win95 disc away a few months ago lol
I run thee different computers, with four different operating systems.
27 inch iMac = 10.6 Snow Leopard & bootcamp Windows XP Pro
Gaming PC = Windows 7 64bit
Laptop = Windows 7 64bit & Ubuntu 10.04
Still using XP except on a netbook I bought about 6 months ago that has W7 starter edition preloaded. If I have a good income year I'll probably build a new rig and install windows 7. Been using my same XP licence since 2002.
Edit: main reason for upgrading would be the RAM limitations of XP 32 bit. I mean Windows 7 seems cool and all, but I'm happy with XP as far as that goes.
