I was just visitng 1 of the forums I used to use before, and I couldn't help but notice how often people would post questions along the lines of

Can you recommend something that I might like?

Questions like this make me laugh, some people are clever enough to list other things they like in which case it's more a case of recommending something similar, but the ones that really got me were the ones where the OP would have just bought a new console and wanted to know what games to get started with, I gues what they are really asking is what games are popular right now, but the initial question makes me feel like I might get the blame if someone buys on my recommendation and then doesn't like it.

Ask a man for directions and he'll tell you. "Post office down the street past the gas station and it's your first left after that."
Ask a woman for directions and she'll ask you a question back. "Do you want to buy a stamp?

I don't think Alan Davies' material was good when he did it, so I don't think you'll have much success with it.
