eh, I personally find any meat other than like chicken disgusting; I don't think it's that strange
PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals
Screw PETA. They are just a bunch of hypocritical idiots.
Also, that bird is pretty awesome. Makes me want to see an Auburn home game now.

Is it just me, or did someone else find something oddly strange about a stadium full of people cheering on a flapping bird? I don't know, something about that seemed off...
Actually, yeah. That is a bit weird.
PETA blows. Remember when they were all pissed that you could kill seals in world of Warcraft? That was hilarious.
Bald eagles are really cool, I just saw one flying around yesterday.

PETA are a bunch of people who support something I generally believe in but do it in such a shitty, mind boggling way that I don't really want them to succeed. I'd rather give my time and money to the RSPCA or something like that.Pretty much my opinion on both PETA and Greenpeace...
However I don't really think what they are doing here is extreme. They saw a bald eagle do something that could leave it rather badly injured and raised some concerns. That's kinda their job, and as long as they don't go and smuggle the eagle out of their then they are entitled to that opinion.
Now you also seem to be claiming PETA doesn't care about animals because, and I quote. "This is the same group of people that euthanizes hordes of animals every year without even attempting to find them a home... Read thisThere is a lot of reasons to dislike PETA, like you know, the firebombing... but that isn't one of them.
To be honest the eagle as a mascot seems kind of lame and unnecessary anyway.
They euthanize several times more animals than they save. Sorry, don't buy that they are all deformed or horribly injured. Doubt it's even half.

I guess this is valid enough since you used PETAs website.

Well no, it isn't. You were the one who made the initial claim. I've looked around the website and there is no evidence.

Actually wasn't me, I just randomly joined in for some reason. I find it extremely hard to believe that the majority of the animals that they rescue are un-adoptable. Most are probably just under fed.
i think the problem with PETA is that they piss people off and then expect the people listen to them.
I once saw a wild bird fly into a glass door, clearly this means all wild birds should be put into sancuaries where they're safe.

@amir90: Watched not too long ago! Kinda crazy that they compare the holocaust to the way livestock is handled...Well, it's really crazy. And offensive.
Though feeding a chicken chicken (:D) is pretty fucked up too...
The fact that you can't see life as life and think that is offensive to me. Around we go :D

Do your research, bra.
Since Spirit's completely unharmed, I think PETA should be more concerned about the fans who shit their pants on national TV when Spirit came a little too close to them.
The university's raptor center has announced that Spirit has had several successful practice flights since the accident and is likely to fly again next saturday when we host Florida Atlantic.

Well, PETA is incorporated in VA and have to submit certain paperwork. Here's a link to their 2010 filing.
http://petakillsanimals.com/downloads/PetaKillsAnimals.pdf. This is a link to their official filing with the VA Dept of Agricultural and Consumer Services.
Some highlights, in 2010, they received 2,345 animals (not counting spay/neuter requests). Number killed: 2,200. Number adopted: 44
In 2009, they received 2,366 animals. Number killed: 2,301.
In 2008, they received 2,216 animals. Number killed: 2,124.
Above 93% of the animals they took in for those 3 years were killed. In the last 13 years, they've never killed less than 72% of the animals they receive.
The SPCA, mind you, adopts out most of the animals they take in.
@MikeinSC: Don't waste your time with peta apologists.
Remember folks, animal testing and animal based medicines are wrong. You are not allowed to use them, ever, it is immoral. If you're diabetic, you must die. Unless you happen to be, oh I don't know.. the head of PETA. In which case, it's completely okay because she's saving more animals by being alive.

Eating dead flesh is not sexy.
Neither is paying terrorists to firebomb research centers or protesting against medicine that your leaders use. PETA supports terrorists and are giant hypocrites beside the point. If you believe in "animal rights", not matter how crazy I may think that sounds, joining PETA to fight for it is stupid beyond comprehension.

I was joking dude!
I'm eating chicken right now!
At least I think it's chicken. Foreign food confuses me.

No, it's definitely a life. It's just that the life is of a vastly inferior importance. Personally, if you think that farms are in any way comparable to the holocaust, I'm not so much "offended" by the thought, as I am surprised at how insane you are.
