You can all get me lots of compliments on this SICK PLAYABLE ALPHA BUILD of this game:

What do y'all think? I was askin people about the framerate before, but the general concensus now is that it's fine. The only good feedback I've got so far is a tonne o shit about anti-aliasing.

Is the art total ametuer hour, or does it look like a real game? Make comments and suggestions n stuff! This is the first publicly playable build since it was a 2D flash prototype.

I can't get your alpha build to work, but I'm really bad with that shit.

I just downloaded everything in the same folder and launched the executable. Didn't work.

Is the game actually called File > Download?

And how do I know I'm not connecting my computer to a botnet just by clicking that link?

I have no idea how to kill that giant dude in the ball, but I really liked it. I love all the dash-y lines when you zip about with the sword.

Downloaded, does not work for me. I start it up, choose resolution, then I get to the "Powered by Unity" screen and it crashes. Using Windows Vista 64 bit, let me know if you want more info.

I played it for a little bit. My laptop is too weak to handle it, but I liked what little I was able to play.

It runs perfectly fine on my labtop. The basic gameply is really cool and could make for a nice game. The sense of empowerment is great.

Graphics don't look final to me. Are they? The backgrounds looked low-res on my screen (I set Unity to maximum graphics). The particle effects are nice, though. Is there a reason why you chose 3d over 2d (no judgement here, I just wanna know)?

More specifically, there's a ship going through a planet (you can see it in your video at 0:21) wich looked cheap. Also, this game begs for screenfilling massive attack, in my opinion (but that would be hard to balance, I think).

Nice work. I eager to see more in the future! Happy birthday!

Got stuck at the guy with the shield (no idea what to do there). Some feedback: 

  • I didn't even know there were multiple weapons until I got to the shield guy, so I had no real way to kill the robot enemies since they all seemed to chase me constantly but I couldn't shoot behind me, only forward.
  • It isn't clear what a lot of the objects do (whether they'll hurt me or not, etc). A lot of the objects (the blue/green ships specifically) I thought were enemies only to find they were on a different plane than me or something.
  • The shift in perspective to behind the back is a neat idea, but as it is now it's VERY difficult to tell where my bullets were going to go. I ended up just dodging the asteroids and the balls until it switched back to the side view.
  • When I was on the boss guy I noticed there was some type of blue filter being applied, which looked like it was only being drawn to a 4:3 resolution on the screen, because it didn't stretch all the way to the left or right (vertical bars on the left and right side of the monitor that were unaffected by the filter).
  • There's currently no pause :(. I was going to take notes for more comprehensive feedback but when I tried to pause there was none. Also, how do I exit the game without a pause menu? I ended up doing ctrl shift esc and ending the process both times.

I THOUGHT the graphics were pretty good, until someone gave me the feedback that "it looks like ass on every setting". Now I'm really takin a second look at it and yeah I actually realise that it looks blurry and smudgey and really empty. So I'll be spendin some serious time on the art now.

It's my first 3D game for a few reasons. I wanted to take advantage of lights, and how 3D games light everything automatically. I want it to be really neon and glowy and colourful, and the only way to have dynamic lighting is for it to be 3D. ALSO a lot of people complained about my last game being a "flash game", and it really bums me out. Also I've learnt a bunch o new stuff, so that's always fun! It's my first time using Photoshop, using C#, UV mapping textures, writing shaders, and just a tonne o stuff.

Yep! I'm just throwin it out there, so I guess there's no tutorial level. There will be, I won't forget that.
You're right about the ships! There used to be fog in this game that'd make everything in the background a slightly different colour than in the foreground so that the foreground would stand out more. I took that out, but you're right I should put it back in.
I should figure out a way to make it easier to aim in forward-view, I'm writing that down.
I'm making it in 4:3, someone on another forum just pointed out to me that that's dumb. So I'm adjusting for that now.
There'll be a pause. Overall functional stuff like that will blend in once I'm happy with how it's playing.

Thanks guys this is totally useful! It's mostly stuff that I thought was "good enough" is actually not good enough.

@I_smell: Thinking about it, I do think the 3D models are fine. The problems is that all the textures seem to be flat colors only. The principal character is just orange looking dude. More variety to him might help, but remember to keep it so it's easy to identify him from the ennemies.
