I've been playing video games pretty much since I was born (1981 for what it's worth). From Atari on through the current consoles. I've either had or had access to basically all the gaming platforms over the years and I don't see my interest in games waining, just shifting maybe. I used to play games for the challenge of them, the "F you Castlequest! I lost your map but I still just beat you!" thing but now I'm more interested in the story. A bunch of games I've played boil down to little more than movies that I have mild interaction with. In some cases I indeed probably would just purchase the video of a game, say if they put out Alan Wake as a CG film or something.
I found myself missing the joy I used to get from simple games that somehow gripped me deeply. Pac-man or Tetris come to mind. Anymore I don't know that I have that joy left in me. Those things I once cherished are relegated to something I do when I've run out of all other entertainment and that is a shame. I tried to go back and relive my childhood and it sort of turned out like Game Room, a total disaster and a sad mess.
Random thoughts about nothing important.

Damn. Stop living in the fucking past. You need to be digging
into today's games & embracing the present. I don't know why
somebody that is only about 30 years old wants to relive his
childhood. Are things that shitty for ya? Save the nostalgia for
when you're 67. Just advice. Take it or not.
Oh, and by the way. I only made this blog because I was simply trying to complete a quest here, I frankly never expected anyone to read it but I also couldn't simply put "Hey, this is blog spam" so I tried to quickly come up with something on the fly. It isn't like this is fueled by some early mid life crisis or something.
@HS21: That's pretty damn funny actually. Though, really to fit properly it should be a 30-something with that look. My point was the kid was full of joy unlike this sad creature pictured here. Quick, someone photoshop my face into this. Or don't.
I was going to just turn my back to this whole thing now because it served its purpose but I couldn't ignore that picture.
" @Phunk_King: It's your inner child, yearning for a game of Pac-Man. "Or maybe he's praying for sweet death, since being a cyclops sucks balls.
I KNOW what you mean I THINK for me, IT'S THAT there isn't anything AS BREATHTAKINGLY new. I remember WAITING for Ocarina to COME OUT, and that moment when YOU FIRST STEP into Hyrule Field and saw how BIG THE world was WAS GRIPPING. MAJORA'S Mask even DID THE same thing to ME. Yet, nowadays, MOST GAMES feel like they're JUST GOING through the fuckin NUMBERS.
" @Lind_L_Taylor: Seriously shitty attitude man. This has nothing to do with age at all. I was simply saying there was a time in my life when I was able to enjoy simpler things and I would like to get back to that point at least once in a while. I still play a ton of games and love them but for very different reasons. I don't want to re-live my childhood but I do want to rekindle the feelings I had for games sometimes. I can play something that is maybe related to the games I'm thinking, something like Cuboid or even Limbo, something without any real story but is just fun and really enjoy it but I don't take that same joy from it, I just enjoy it and move on. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm just missing the excitement. Imagine a young kid on Christmas morning. . . I would like to find that experience in gaming again if I can, but so far I haven't been able to. Oh, and by the way. a lot of people that have run into nostalgia at a young age.
And it always blows my mind. LOL. Well anyway, gratz
on your achievement.
