Ip Man 2.
Great action, still jingoistic, Ip's still a boss.
4/5.
Dear Zachary
5/5
Fuck guys. Fucking shit. I don't cry at movies. I don't cry at anything. But I cried at this movie. Like twice. Which is big for me. I suggest watching it but really, really be ready. Shit goes bad and then gets worse and then just...man, fuck guys. Also fuck Canada.
The last movie that I watched was Pitch Perfect. I give it a 9/10 stars. It was really hilarious especially fat amy.
The Island. 8.5/10. Good acting, interesting plot and execution, and Scarlett Johansson sexying up the set the entire movie. Overall a pretty good movie, and one that I hadn't heard of before watching it last semester in one of my classes (finally took the time to sit down and finish the movie last weekend, since I hadn't finished the entire movie in my class)
7/10. B-Movie Horror, Cool Accents, and Non CG Monsters........My kind of movie.
Watched recently Easy A. 4.5/5. I so love Emma Stone!
春夏秋冬又一春 Spring Summer Autumn Winter and Spring (2003)
Probably a 4/5
Very memorable, though I disagreed with some of the motivations of the characters and the general message at the end. Until the end, it was a solid 5/5.
Silver Linings Playbook.
5 stars, highly recommended, would watch again.
It's actually fantastic. It seems to come from a place of sincerity, where there are undeniably difficult circumstances that seem impossible to get around, and most of the characters are deeply flawed, and it walks into the minefield of utilising mental disorders, but overall it was very heartfelt and left a positive impression, which, for a movie dedicated to finding positives in negatives, is pleasing.
Oh yes, the acting was incredible on all parts, the simple scenery was very effective, and the story managed to stay consistent all the way through.
Bulworth: An intelligent political satire starring Warren Beatty. I give it "Two thumbs up, but only one of those thumbs is WAY up!"
Match Point
Really liked it, great ending... bit of a twist. 4.5/5
The last movie that I watched was an Italian film that came out a decade ago called I'm Not Scared. I started watching it because I thought it was a Spanish horror film (I had heard some good things about it, but I had no idea what it was actually about), but I kept watching even though I could tell that it wasn't a horror film within the first few minutes of the movie starting. And, man, I'm glad I kept watching. I don't want to give too much away, but without getting into too many specifics, the movie is about a little boy who finds another little boy who has been trapped in a hole in the ground. And I'm not talking about the 127 Hours "Help, I fell and got stuck" kind of hole, I'm talking about a person/people who put that little boy in a deep hole in the ground. The movie is a little bit of a slow burn (as many Italian movies seem to be), but if you have the patience then it is definitely worth a watch. There's suspense, mystery, and even a little bit of comedy.
5/5 stars.
Trailer Park Boys: The Movie - I'll give it four jelly filled doughnuts and a pack of smokes. I wish this had been the finale to the series. It's funny, it gives a decent ending to most of the major characters (but where the hell are the bottle kids?), and it's pretty much exactly what it advertises. Unfortunately, I then watched...
Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to... oh, I don't really give a crap about looking up the proper title. This was a stinker. Sure, it had some funny parts to it, but it meandered through a terrible plot and felt like nothing but a weak cash-in of the product. I'm giving this a wet fart and a soggy napkin dug out from a McDonald's trashcan. Avoid this one.
Stand Up Guys - 4/5
Walken and Pacino as old half-senile buddies is the most fun I've seen in ages. Just heart-warming. Sadly, while the beginning and end are strong, the middle part really weakens and stalls pointlessly.
Stellar memorable 2 hours nonetheless.
Argo: 9/10.....it was very good, I can see why it won best picture.
OoT world record attempt all bosses run. 4/5 - I've watched a ton of these but the crazy exploits and glitches people have found continue to blow my mind. A lot of not-so-exciting running around but worth sitting through.
Dredd was cool. It actually managed to stay pretty close to the comics and had some pretty cool effects too.
Violent as fuck though, but that doesn't bother me. There was some stuff that was just like "ah, they're just doing this for the shock value" and was kind of dumb, but whatever.
I thought it was good. Compared to piece of shit Stallone made back in the 90's *cringes*..... The new one is like the best movie ever. Can't wait for the next one they are making.
Jesus... A Good Day to Die Hard. 1/5. I don't even want or feel the need to go into detail other than it was a predictable, boring, over the top in a bad way movie. Willis REALLY phoned it in on this one.
The Cabin in the Woods
Fuck!
This is the highest possible score in my new review scale. The other scores being Fuck. Fuck... And finally, Fuck?
Patlabor. 5/5, greatest movie ever made.
Patlabor 2. 5/5, the new greatest movie ever made.
They're not really the greatest movies ever made. I just like them a lot. I still need to find versions in French or the UK dub though. French for childhood memories or the UK dub for non-terrible English dub.

Dat ending. That movie got weird. So many possibilities for a sequel.
Does it actually have a conclusion or is this a "to be continued" situation?
Does it actually have a conclusion or is this a "to be continued" situation?
No "to be continued". If it does continue the sequel will be a completely different kind of movie though. That chapter of the story is complete.

Yeah, it has a definite ending. And after watching it I read a quote from the director after he was asked what the sequel would be and his response was something along the lines of "Sequel? Did you see the ending to my movie?" Still, it would be interesting if they tried to make a sequel to it. But like pr1mus says, it would be a very different movie.
The New World.
10/10.
Man is this a magnificent film.
One of the most beautiful movies I've seen. The cinematography is just fantastic. The shots range from breathtaking to "holy fuck how do you even get a shot like that?"
Great soundtrack as well. I loved the use of Wagner and Mozart.

Death Race 3: inferno. 2/5
oh boy. now im a fan of trashy action flicks, i kinda enjoyed the awful Death Race 2. its a direct sequel taking place right after and things are completely forgotten. events are different yet all the characters are the same.
its unrated so i expected more violence and nudity, but theres like NOTHING. ugh. just cheap explosions that make no sense. its awful.
the acting is meh, but not even an awful kind of acting thats sorta fun, its just meh and bland.
all in all, its a flaccid pointless movie.
Not a movie per say... but i watched Fishing with John on a whim when i was browsing Netflix and was pleasantly surprised, at least 4/5 and its growed on me more and more. its basically a fishing show thats not really about fishing from the early 90's, and Jim Lurie takes a famous actor fishing each episode but they suck at fishing for the most part and the fun comes from the crazy narration, story telling, and dumb humor. You have to enjoy dry humor to like it i think as its not always funny, but it only takes around 2 hours to watch them all.
Ordered a copy on DVD as i want to take it up my buddies and re watch it with some beers. The intro song is great too...
Howl's Moving Castle.
Vinny/Vinny
Always seems to be the black sheep of the Ghibli stuff (and I full well expect the exceptions to the rule to say 'I love it!'), and for some reason I never watched it. Glad I finally did, definitely in my top 3 so far.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull 8/10
It's been a long time since I saw this in theaters, so I went out and bought it. I don't get what the fuss is all about, this is movie is great! It is just as fun as any of the other Indy movies and just as ridiculous. The refrigerator scene isn't that big of a deal, I can point a few scenes from the older movies that are just as unreal. Overall the movie was a fun ride from beginning to end.
I imagine it's because of the freedom fridge.
Blade Runner 9/10
First time I've seen this movie. I loved it but also I was drunk so I am going to watch it again. I really love these sorts of things, posthumanism and what is the measure of a man in a world where we make machines that understand and appreciate emotions better than we ever will.
Incendies - 4/5
A really great film with one of the better twist endings I've seen in quite a while. However, I think I probably would've enjoyed it a bit more if I had a little more knowledge about the Lebanese Civil War going into it.
The Master
5/5
The Master deserved much more recognition than it got at the Oscars. Best cinematography of the year, as well as best performance by Joaquin Phoenix.
Wreck it Ralph 5/5 Candy Go-Karts
The last of the nominated "Best Animated Feature Film" I ended up watching. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie...I was actually having "feels" (is that what the hip young kids say). Its been awhile where i was actually smiling along with the movie, and it wasn't because of all the videogame references either. This movie had more heart than any of the other contenders, especially Brave which felt entirely uninspired
The Hobbit: 4/5
I really enjoyed the LotR adaptations. Masterpiece by Jackson. The Hobbits feels more like the Star Wars prequels.
The Hobbit about 2 months ago or so.
8/10, it was somewhat awesome, but below my expectations.
The Hobbit. I give it a 4/5. It was really good. I don't really have many complaints.
Short about the characters:
I'd wish that there were less characters in the main character's company. If that was the case it'd give each of the characters more screen time and perhaps allowing me to get some sort of attachment to a few of them. Now they're just a bunch that are supposed to fill a whole range of completely different personalities, in something that feels very much like someone trying to cover all their bases. Gandalf was fantastic as always.
Short about the races:
I really liked how the Dwarves were portrayed in this as a race. We get to see some footage from past events, before the movie events take place, and those had some of the nicest visuals of the movie, I thought. The same goes for the Elves. The Orcs seemed to be given a more funny role, but not really all that funny to me, more so than perhaps I think was necessary.
The Hobbit. 4/5
I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much other than it being too long, stretching the story over the course of three films. I didn't seem like a 2h50 movie and i felt it got moving faster than the Fellowship of the Ring.
Bilbo was fantastic especially in contrast of how insufferable Frodo and Sam are in the previous films. So too were the Dwarves. The idea of following a bunch of characters like Gimli wasn't exactly enticing but they were far more interesting.
I don't know if I would call it a "movie" per-say but I watched it on Netflix so WHATEVER. But yea, I watched Nick Kroll's stand up special "Thank You Very Cool" and it was pretty bad. He's great on The League and Parks and Rec but man, his stand up is just really bland and his characters that he does are pretty annoying. 2/5.
