So this has just started making the rounds and frankly I wholeheartedly endorse it.

Bring Reading Rainbow Back For Kids Everywhere

They've demolished their goal so far and already posted an update about 11 hours in. The thank you video is damn touching.

It makes me happy to see something actually worthwhile get Kickstarted. I loved Reading Rainbow as a kid.

Also, so everyone of a certain age range can go on a nostalgia trip, here's the main theme. I listened to it like 10 times in a row this morning:

That's so damn amazing. And its already up to a great start, past its goal after its first day. So awesome. I hope they get more than a couple of seasons, and then some.

This is great, I loved Reading Rainbow as a kid. I might have to throw some money at this.

This is cool shit. It's really nice to see good things on the internet every once in a while. And that video was all sorts of adorable. TNG fans really need to stick it through.

Yeah the ending is well worth it.

I'm thinking of at least dropping 5 or 10 just to do my part for something so worthwhile. Although I really want to see what the shirt options will look like.

I was going to make some crack about people probably not being old enough to have actually watched Reading Rainbow as a kid, but then I found out it lasted until 2006! Holy fuck!

I approve of this Kickstarter and not surprised it has already made its goal with 34 days left.

My level of excitement for this is completely unreasonable. Hurray for positive things! It's nice to see that the internet can be a force for good from time to time.

I've said this elsewhere, but where is my Wishbone Kickstarter that I so desperately want?

Hell yea. Tell the world! Bring back reading rainbow to help kids realize their potential with reading and writing. I grew up with that show in the 80s!

I very vaguely remember a computer game when I was a really young kid, and I think it may have been Reading Rainbow? I vaguely remember the box it came in too. Wow, talk about obscure memories.

Now Wishbone is something I DO remember fairly well! I actually had some of those books too, and who could forget the TV show? I can even kind of remember the TV show's theme song - I'm going to have to Youtube it for nostalgia's sake now.

The only thing I remember about Reading Rainbow from school is the theme song and LeVar Burton. What was the format of the show even like?

I have so much nostalgia for Reading Rainbow. I used to watch it a ton at home and in my early classrooms. So I'm super thrilled to see how well this reboot is doing. Shame that my niece grew up in a world with no Reading Rainbow (she's eight now).

@random45: The first thing that pops in my head when I hear "Sherlock Holmes" is Wishbone in the Sherlock hat and jacket from "The Hound of the Baskervilles" episode.

I backed this with good reason. No matter someone's age, few things are quite so empowering as reading.

This makes me so happy. It's pretty wonderful.

They just raised $9000 while I watched the pitch video again.

The basic premise was summed up in the theme song really. Love of reading and good that can be fostered by that. I believe it would usually focus on a book or a few, maybe a read along, have interactions with children, and have on location bits that enhanced the themes of that episodes books. One of the major things that sticks out in my head was that it didn't really talk down to kids at all, which most TV seems to do, again fostering imagination, creativity, exploration, etc. rather than prescribing a way of interpreting things.

Basically exactly what education should be.

They posted their first update video as well, which is pretty damned touching, I'll edit it into the first post.

Well, this could be the first kickstarter that I back.
