Really quick question, hopefully quick answers.

Is it OK to put a TV on top of the home theater system? Or the receiver? I first had the receiver sitting on top of the bass, and that was alright, but I just figured out why the sound sometimes goes out through the center speaker, and it's because it was sitting on top of the bass, so as it rumbled, it jiggled the back cords out a little. I was just watching The Dark Knight and I reached in the back to wiggle the cords a little and that was surely it, so now I just put it under my TV, which I'm just worried isn't a good idea, but is it OK to do so, or will it mess either the TV or receiver up for some reason, like... magnetism?

I don't know, I'm just worried and haven't tested it yet. Please help me if you can, thank you :). I've read about over-heating receivers and vents, but mine doesn't have a vent on top, it's flat solid, and whenever I feel my receiver even over long periods of play, it's never too hot. I don't know how else to set it up with the way my stuff is set up, so this is the best way I can have it. I should mention also that my TV is a 19" and isn't heavy. Ughhh, I'm so worried about this. I want my sound system to work properly, but I just don't know if this is a good idea.

No one? :/ Bump. I just tried playing Dead Space 2 as a test, and maybe it's because I never noticed certain subtle aspects, though I did know it sounded amazing from the get-go, but I heard little sounds that I didn't hear before, and the sounds I remember were clearer than before. I'm not sure if it has to do with moving the receiver elsewhere though, and I don't know what the lasting effect may be.

I'm hoping the TV isn't too heavy for it, it doesn't seem to be, but I just don't know, and I hope there's no magnetic problem, if you know what I mean. I'm still a little worried about it, and I certainly hope that whenever I watch a movie next the center speaker doesn't go out again due to it not being in place all the way. I'll be awaiting anyone's response to this if they have any clue. I think it seems like a bad idea to do if you have any other option, but is it really bad?

Oh, and I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly how well the game sounded before compared to now, but it sounded fantastic; maybe I was just blown away again since I hadn't played it in a while. I'll have to try some other games or even films.

Do you not have any other place to put it at all?

How big (and heavy) is the TV?

I certainly don't think it's a good idea. Can't you just get a TV stand? You can find a cheap one pretty easily. A receiver is not a stable platform to be placing a television on, other concerns aside.

@believer258: As mentioned, the TV is only 19" and not very heavy at all; I don't know the exact weight of it. I could figure out a way to make it different, but none quite as good as it's already set up. The lack of variety I can do with my room set-up compared to the house I lived in a few years ago is unfortunate, but it works perfectly fine as is, I'm just worried about the closeness of the TV and receiver. The part about it putting too much pressure or the over-heating isn't a concern quite as much as just the effects that I can't see.

@Kerned: No, I have it on a stand. This isn't like me putting it on the floor and I'm content with it, ha ha. It's stable on there, so that's not the concern.

@NTM: I see. Well the additional information, I don't think that you have anything to worry about.

@Kerned: Yeah, I hope not. Thanks.
