After a nearly two-year long battle with pancreatic cancer, Patrick Swayze died today, September 14, 2009. The star of "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" as well as many other films, Swayze was a very respected film icon and will be missed.
Though those two films are great, I will always remember him for his very memorable sketch on SNL with Chris Farley doing the Chippendales dance. That is still played today and the juxtaposition of the two actors really made for some great humor.
" I thought Swayze was great, but I'm so not looking forward to the number of news reports and shoddy YouTube tributes that end with a slo-mo of that shot from Ghost. Y'know, the one where Sam looks up at the light pouring out of the heavens. "
It is always sad to see anyone die from such a horrid disease.
As for him as an actor though...... I seriuosly disliked his body of work. Dirty Dancing was one of the WORST films I have ever endured. Ghost was stupid. Roadhouse was lame. Point Break was utter tripe and not even Keanu could make me like it. He just couldn't carry a film as a lead. As a character actoras part of a film, he was fine as Donnie Darko showed.
Still, he deserved like many, a longer life.
