World of Warcraft--as much as it is a massive timesink and I myself done almost nothing but play it for like 5 months and hope I never play another MMO to that extent again in my life--is a fantastically well-made game.
RuneScape, on the other hand is total garbage and I wouldn't play it if someone paid me.

If I had to make a choice, WoW. Even though I hated it when I tried it out, at least it's an actual game. I played Runescape when I was like 10, and was a level 40 Miner. How is that entertainment?
Anyways, this was a failed attempt at starting a flame war, seeing as nobody in the right mind would defend Runescape.
world of warcraft, is there even a choice in this lol. runescape is a boring game for kids who want to play a MMO but don't have money to pay for an actual MMO. there is just so time u can put into World of warcraft.
i played it 3 years straight about a year or two ago. i use to be addicted to it. i stopped playing because people stopped raiding because of wrath of the lichking was coming out.
neither play games that are fun like an FPS or RTS although i did play age of conan for a month or two and it was pretty good i must say i feel bad for funcom though, alot of effort went into conan.

Um yea I would say Runescape is better because with WoW you have to pay for great services, also Wow sucks because it is a real game and the graphics are better also you can make a character not a stick I like sticks. So yea I think Runescape is far better! (dude what the fuck WoW is better but people go to Aion now.)

For one I’d suggest a more tactful approach to such a question if you want to avoid stirring up the fanboy nests (although im sure that was your intention, been alot of that around here of late).
I'll try and actually give you a constructive opinion unlike some others (you can pick your jaw up of the floor now), I’ve played some runescape and alot of World of Warcraft in the past, and I won't get drawn into which one sucks more as they both offer something to different people, my personal opinion is that I enjoyed World of Warcraft more, it just presented me with a much more compelling world to explore (and coming from previous warcraft games helped that) and again it is a more modern game with everything that entails.
People will always hate on Wow for whatever reason (I’m guessing they have nothing better to do) but it is a great game with alot to offer the player, it’s not for everyone and like any other game it has its fair share of community failings that others will use to attack it, but again that’s there failing.
I don't play anymore and when I did, I did so in moderation for the most part, but I don’t regret my time spent with the game at all, and for all those people who hate games such as WoW for trivial reasons, isn’t it about time you changed your tune as its getting abit old, your not being critised for not having played the game so maybe show the same respect to those that have.
WoW is pretty much the only MMO worth playing if you ask me. The level of quality, the amount of content, the approachability -- it's all through the roof. Yes, WoW is a timesink, but it's also an addictive game that constantly rewards the player.

and Coming from a former WoW player, After a while, it means nothing because thy both are pretty boring. Once I hit 80 in WoW I raided for a few months and then got bored and quit.
I love how the gaming community as a whole complains about people saying "people who play games have no lives" yet those same people who probably complain about people who say that say "You play MMOs so you have no life!"
