Hey everybody,

So i'm going out to san fran for about a week at the end of july. I've never been there so I'm looking for something to do while I'm out. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty much down for anything, I'm a musician so I'm cool with going to see bands and stuff in the area. Anything you guys got I wanna hear. :D thanks

There are Best Buys just about everywhere, eff that. You're not missing much.

I'm trying to see if there are any cool shows going on during that week. Definitely go to Amoeba at Haight/Ashbury. You can honestly spend an entire day there looking through all the used/new DVDs/CDs/Vinyls, plus they usually have bands showing up for free live shows there (apparently the Danish punk band IceAge is making an appearance the Tuesday you'll be in SF. Hotel Utah has live shows every day, plus some pretty cheap drink specials during happy hour. Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf is worth a quick look, though it is a tourist trap through and through.

Union Square has a ton of crazy huge shops (and Market Street is just kind of nice to walk around on, to get a feel for how busy the city can get). North Beach's got some great restaurants to check out.

Otherwise, you can kinda just do what you want. If you just happen upon a nice looking bar or something, chances are that it's a pretty cool place. San Francisco is chill like that. ]

Head down to Golden Gate park.  Check out Haight Ashbury, and go see the house that the Grateful Dead used to live in.  Go get some of that amazing San Francisco cuisine and maybe take in a show or something.  You could go see Thurston Moore on the 26th, apparently his new album is supposed to be awesome.  Or this really good bluegrass band called Cornmeal is playing there on the 30th.  That one might not be too hard to get tickets for.  Here's them doing a Talking Heads song.  They're really fun to get down to.

Buy a condom, put it on, get drunk and get laid.

That's usually my rule of thumb every time I go to a new area.  Gotta mark my territory.

You could head a couple hours south and see the Santa Cruz boardwalk where The Lost Boys was filmed. Also there's an old legend that Richard Greco lives underneath the Log Ride and you can hear him crying about his failing acting career.

Though I'm honestly not too sure if the Log ride is still operational. When I was a kid, I used to go there every other weekend.

Go get your picture taken in front of the houses from the opening sequence to Full House:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painted_ladies

Then post it on your facebook as it is guaranteed to impress any suburban female who grew up in the late 80s.

You can thank me later.

Pretty nice City one of the few worth checking out in the US.

Unless hanging around in a best buy or eating in a starbucks is your thing, That the case anything will do.
