It was kinda weird hearing that they were releasing a new album today. I'm going into this one with low expectations.

There is no way that is true.

#13 Posted by amlabella (323 posts) -

I was just listening to Loveless today! I'm pretty excited if this is in fact true (we all know Kevin Shields' track record). Don't want to set my expectations too high though, just hoping for a really good album, no instant classic or anything like that.

#14 Posted by mellotronrules (1172 posts) -

yeah this is kinda neat. feels like the first 'event record' since 'in rainbows' in 2007. hope it's good!

#15 Posted by CosmicBatman (317 posts) -

Holy shit

#16 Posted by FancySoapsMan (5806 posts) -

Kevin Shields has a reputation for being kind of a perfectionist.

I don't think he'd put out an album that has been so highly anticipated if he wasn't sure it was great. I have pretty good hopes for it.

I wonder what the over under is on this being better or worse than chinese democracy...

(to be honest I kinda liked chinese democracy)

@Animasta:

i'm generally of the mind that the longer it's in the oven, the more likely it'll get burned.

poor metaphors aside, it's rare with artistic endeavours that the longer the wait, the better it is.

#21 Posted by FancySoapsMan (5806 posts) -

the album is now live at mybloodyvalentine.org

I suspect it will be a while before I can actually download it though ;___;

#22 Posted by PeasantAbuse (5138 posts) -

Their website won't load ahdgasdgabdsgabsdgabsdgba

I wonder what the record is for longest break-up to new album. Surely 22 years has to be close.

I would prefer a sequel to the film. Also, what the hell is My Bloody Valentine?

Got confused with Bullet for My Valentine. Accidental excitement. Now I'm sad and shit, though they're releasing a new album this year so woo, I suppose.

Every time someone mentions My Bloody Valentine, I cringe, only because I confuse them with My Chemical Romance. That's probably really bad, right?

#44 Posted by chrismafuchris (1088 posts) -

Why did this have to happen while I was at the gym?

let's all bask in resplendent glow of one of my favourite musical cues ever.

edit: i fully expect jeff & co. to pony up the licensing fee so they can recreate this on THE RAID.

edit 2: if anyone wants to have a conversation about the absolute glory of the big muff, you let me know.

TO HELL WITH YOU.

(I don't blame you for thinking it. I went through the same shit myself trying to convince people in high school that not all electronic music is the same.)
