" @MAN_FLANNEL said:Is it ironic that Charlie Murphy's wife died exactly a week ago?" Sweet...was she like Eddie Murphy's wife? "Charlie Murphy's wife. "
So Brittany Murphy died
" @Twilight said:dude shut up. stop acting like some expert on acting." @thecleric said:" @Twilight said:Can you honestly say that he was a bad actor? "" @BrockSampson said:Hahaah.. sure he was. "" I wonder if the media will try and "Heath Ledger" her. "Won't work cause Heath Ledger was actually a good actor. "
I'll be honest. He wasn't a bad actor, he just did a lot of so-so work. Mainly teen chick flicks. Because in the last year of his life, he chose to do some more mature roles, doesn't escape the fact that he has a lot of crap in the past. Tho I am interested in his Terry Gilliam movie coming out. But more because of TG. "
Yes, I can. 10 Things I Hate About You, The Order, A Knight's Tale, The Patriot, Monster's Ball, The Four Feathers, The Brothers Grimm...seriously, the dood did a lot of bad-to-subpar movies...and he wasn't good in any of them. Towards the end of his career, he started getting better. Candy was a great movie, and Ledger showed a lot of improvement. Brokeback Mountain is all a matter of opinions (and my opinion is that the book was great, the movie was fucking terrible, and Ledger stinked it up as bad as Gyllenhaal). His portrayal of Bob Dylan in I'm Not There is good, but in comparison to the other performances in that movie, it's weak. Dark Knight was amazing, though, and he did an incredible job as the Joker." @thecleric said:

Lords of Dogtown and Ned Kelly, eh...matters of opinion as well. I liked him in Ned Kelly, not so much in Lords of Dogtown...but then again, Lords of Dogtown just isn't as awesome as Dogtown and Z-Boys...so...
And it was made out like he was a fucking genius actor or something, like he was on the same level with, like, Robert fucking De Niro or Leonardo fucking DiCaprio or something...
AND HE WASN'T!
As for Brittany Murphy, no one is going to make it out like she was a genius actress, which is sad...because she actually had more talent than Heath Ledger in some of her roles (Clueless, Girl Interrupted, and King of the Hill come to mind).
So I say...
I apologize, was it Ten Things I Hate About You or was it his stunning performance in Lords of Dogtown what won you over?

You need to die, or at least just leave
The fact that he started out in chick flicks doesn't mean that he didn't learn from his experiences. You cannot deny the performances in Brokeback Mountain and The Dark Knight. The reason why his death was so big is because he was becoming something more than people thought he would ever be... he had so much potential and who knew what other roles he would nail in the future if he had have lived? Sure he started out with some pretty garbage movies, but he was just getting himself in the door. If you think that when someone can't proceed onto larger things after they've started out small, then I don't know what to say to you." @Twilight said:
Yes. Easily. And that has nothing to do with why he was eulogised after his death anyway. "" @thecleric said:

And I know a lot of people will say "Well I don't watch movies with gay cowboys." The fact is that his acting is impeccable, it doesn't matter if you like the content of the movie or not.
His performance actually made me cry in that movie, and his performance has made that movie become one of my all time favorites. The only movie to EVER make me cry. It's just astounding how he did it. Now with that said, I think "10 Things I Hate About You" was pure garbage, but at least I can acknowledge that as an actor, Heath Ledger grew away from that and was bound to be one of the greats if he had lived.
Sucks about Brittany Murphy though. Seen her in Sin City and 8 Mile. Also, I didn't know this but on closer inspection of IMDB she played Luanne in King of the Hill! That's pretty cool.
She was not on drugs. She had lost so much weight it is believed over the past few months that she had cardiac arrest apparently.
She was not the best actress anyways, but my condolences go out to her family.
I like how everyone got completely sidetracked from the fact that there's another quite meaningless death.
She didn't play a psycho in an overrated action flick, so she does not deserve being reminded after death. Awright.
Still, her death is not cool. Actors in my book are people that you don't expect to die.
People stop being dicks to each other, stop ripping apart each others posts in an attempt to score more e-penis points.
Lets discuss the subject at hand instead. RIP to Brittany Murphy and condolences to her family and friends, always a little shocking when someone young dies so unexpectedly.
" @HandsomeDead said:The Dark Knight was an incredibly gimmicked performance which, while good, could have been done by plenty of people. Brokeback Mountain was also good but nothing special. If anything, he was a competant actor and could have been a decent character actor but if The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus was a good indicator of the future, he was destined to be the next Johnny Depp where all he does is play quirky heartthrobs for fat teenage girls. If he hadn't died, he'd be another good actor like Nicolas Cage or something but acting like he was the next Orson Welles based on two roles is insane." @Twilight said:The fact that he started out in chick flicks doesn't mean that he didn't learn from his experiences. " @yeahno said:Couldn't care less, frankly. Jessica Alba was always overrated, in my opinion." She was the "I'll cutcha little pecka off" chick in Sin City, right? "Who cares, Jessica Alba was in that movie playing a stripper :P "
but on to the actual topic, this kind of breaks my heart. She was a pretty young woman, and this is way too young for someone to die, regardless.
Ouch, that poor woman died at age 32 of cardiac arrest.
I'm age 32 as well plus cardiovascular diseases do run in our family...
As soon as we're in 2010, i'll have a bodily check-up!
Okay, enough self-pity here.

Sleep well, my dear, your earthly endeavours are over.
It seems like every time a celebrity dies, the amount of idiots posting on Giantbomb increases drastically. It's a good thing I'm not a moderator because I would ban over half the senseless dickwads in this thread who somehow think it's cool to wear their disinterest on their sleeve. It will never cease to amaze me how the old addendum "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all" is consistently ignored on these forums.

roflmao he played that fag in a movie yeah sure he's a good actor glad he died that retarded faggot
That's generally the standard response to "Heath Ledger was a good actor."

"Your a damn fool Winston...a damn fool."
Don't quote me but I think that's her last line in Sin City.
Ditto. Didn't even know her name, and I'm not kidding. Didn't even know she voiced whats-her-face in King of the Hill. That character always seemed to annoy me though." @ZeForgotten said:

Back to Murphy, I also liked her in Sidewalks of New York and Drop Dead Gorgeous. I don't know, she always seemed like such an adorable little flake to me. Bummer.
Knew her from King of the Hill and that Futurama movie she was in. Quite a pity considering how young she was.
" @therabidfrog said:" Wow gamers are insensitive dicks. "Yup :( "
all too true. This makes me feel terrible. I am a the biggest fan of sin city. I'll watch it tonight for her.
