So hot tip for anyone who hates the new look of chrome.

So, if you are like me you were most likely aggravated at the drastic newest changes chrome made with its latest update. I haaated the new look but then I found a solution.

Go to the address bar and put in chrome://flags/

This should bring up a bunch of mumbo jumbo that most everyone isn't going to understand what you need to look for is "Enable Instant Extended API" which will be set to default. Click the drop down box select DISABLE and then relaunch the browser for it to take effect.

Some of you may not mind the new changes but if you're like me and did I'm really glad there is a way to change it back so I figured Id share.

It took me a while to figure out how to find Recently Closed Tabs

@mitch0712: Yeah I hated that and whats worse with the newest update you cant say close the browser with 5 tabs then just say open all 5 of those tabs at once like you use to. So being able to roll that stupid change back really made my day so far.

I thought it was fine, they didn't really change much. The only thing I wish they didn't do was hide recently closed tabs in a menu.

Or switch to Firefox and maybe everything you do will not be logged and later used by Google for some crazy scheme.

There's a new look?

@video_game_king: They changed the "New Tab" page as well as how the apps and recently opened tabs are displayed. Might not be a big deal for some especially if you don't see the "new tab" page a whole lot but I use the new tab page as my home page so it was a tad irksome to me.

Is everyone who is not seeing it have Version 29.0.1547.76 m ? Because it may not have rolled out to everyone just yet. Then again I'm hypersensitive to any changes with things.

@demoskinos: I always run beta & canary channels on my Macbook, and my Windows machine is used mostly for gaming...I'm on 30.0.1599.66 beta right now.

Ctrl Shift T all day

New page tab has always been useless. Just use the bookmarks bar for all the sites you go to. And use the search bar for everything else.

also, everyone should enable smooth scrolling. Its in beta right now and, while not as smooth as Firefox, is an improvement). Its been in beta for awhile, but figured I'd tell people anyway. Most people probably don't know it exists

The only thing I hate is that now in my bookmarks bar there is an Apps bookmark that I can't get rid of and want it gone badly. Anyone know how to get rid of it?

just right click on the bookmarks toolbar and there is a checkbox at the bottom at the bottom of the menu that pops up. "Show Apps Shortcut"

My only major gripe was that they moved the recently closed tabs button. Got used to that pretty quickly, though.

Though having a search bar on the new tab page is kind of redundant when the address bar is pretty much a search bar in and of itself.

If you are using windows 7/8 you can also right click on the chrome icon in the taskbar to get your recent tabs

thanks for the tip! The big google search bar on the new tab page was making it super slow for some reason and i search in teh adressbar anyway.

I didn't notice any drastic changes myself. Mostly just the new tab page and the recent tabs thing.

I like Chrome too, actually.

I'm scared to open Chrome 'cause I got like 149 tabs on it. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

I'll get to sorting those, some day.

Oh...these changes finally hit the release branch. I stay on the Chrome beta releases, and they've been going back and forth on a lot of these changes for quite a while.

I hated the new new tab page, it's my home page as well and they minimized everything to put a fat google search bar even though the address bar already does that! I don't need to see their logo every time I open a new tab, I'm already using their damn product. Thanks a ton Demo, I was really annoyed by these changes.

I was wondering why it looked different on my Windows machine, turns out the Linux on my netbook is simply not supported by this hot new garbage. Going to disable it once I power up the big rig, thanks for the tip.
