Those movies are both already dragon ball z. second, about this picture. Ever stop and think that he isnt done transforming? cause this pic sure looks like right in the middle of changing to me. Anyways i think the movie will be fine, its not sapposed to be a carbon copy of the cartoon. just take it for what it is and quit ur bitching

I didn't know that Steven Chao was involved in this. That actually restores a little hope. However, that looks absolutely nothing like Goku's ape form and I still think this movie will fail.

Kung Fu Hustle is brilliant. That being said, there is no fucking way that someone who has done movies along the lines of Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer will be able to pull off the movie that DBZ fans want. It should be a carbon copy of the cartoon. The way it is now just looks stupid as hell.
Gotta love the internet. Fanboys complaining about how ridiculous a design is, and that Goku should look like a proper giant monkey in the full moon which is not ridiculous at all.

Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are laughably ridiculous, embarrassing and sub-B-Movie level. Always was. Always will be. Entertaining, but in a cheap, stupid and childish way.
You cannot complain about the movie doing EXACTLY THE SAME, just in a different design. On the contrary: A life action movie that tries to mimic the look of the TV series would be ridiculous x 1000. All you're doing is complain about how some designs were changed and how the movie is bound to "fail" and be "the worst", which is fanboysim at it's worst, incredibly shallow and dumb. If anything, it should tell you that maybe, the Filmmakers actually try to use the medium film in a fitting way.
Now I, too, have a feeling this movie is going to be really, really bad. But that's got nothing to do with the designs.
You cannot seriously demand that the movie should look like the series in order to NOT LOOK like a craptacular design mess. Think about that for a second.

I guess you could be right about the mid transformation thing. But then why does he look like a reptile? ...and there is a bit of green in the mask. How many green apes have you seen? Though I love using makeup and prosthetics over CG when appropriate. How would it make any sense to make a transitional ape form costume unless he remained like that for some time. No I think that is the ape form for this shit storm of a movie.
Or maybe goku did the fusion dance with piccolo.
Also why the fuck isn't Goku asian? Pretty much the whole cast is asian why not Goku?
It is 2008 are we really saying that American audiences are STILL not ready for an asian male lead? Are we really that shallow and stupid?
