I think it'll probably be a music site or maybe one about books. Is booked.com taken?
So what do you think the next Whiskey Media site is going to be?
What other nerd things are there? Maybe an RPG site? (Not stuff like Final Fantasy and Fallout; more like GURPS and Shadowrun.)
I'd go for the inevitable RPG board, mainly because GB doesn't have one :P.
@FluxWaveZ:
Movies aren't nerdy? You've never seen a cinema geek before?
I would definitely check out a book site. A music site would be ok I guess, but it's not something I'd visit too often.
" @FireBurger said:Oh, OK. I didn't realize that." TV. They have all of the other nerd mediums covered. "Screened does TV along with movies. They just haven't launched that part of the wiki yet. "
If they add another site I would like it to be about music or food. What I would really enjoy though is unifying the whisky media sites like IGN does. One user name, achievements across all sites, and easier access to the other sections. I mean, sure they have three links on the bottom of the page, but if I want to visit Screened.Com right now, I have to type it in manually.
" @Video_Game_King said:True, it is the more widely accepted medium (mainly because it came pre-packaged with 19th century hype), but it's still pretty nerdy. Hell, they're making a Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie starring Michael Cera (is that how you spell it, I forgot). That's pretty damn nerdy. Besides, half of the movies out there fall into some pretty damn nerdy subjects: comic book, sci-fi, mash-up, etc." @FluxWaveZ: Movies aren't nerdy? You've never seen a cinema geek before? "They can be, but you're delusional if you think movies aren't more widely accepted as a means of entertainment compared to video games, tech, anime/manga and comic books. "
" If they add another site "It has been confirmed by the founder that two more WM websites are planned to launch before the end of 2010.
Seriously?
Screened just started not too long ago, and they are still trying to fill out and get all their features completely situated.
Anime Vice had major staff leave before Screened even launched, so they are getting new staff use to being there.
Moreover, all the sites just moved into a central location.
If anything, my guess would be that they are going to make sure that their sites and the features of each are airtight before they even consider making another site. Even then, what do they really need to do? Show of hands: how many of you would actually go to a book site for Whiskey Media? Hell, how many of you keep up with new books hitting shelves on a regular basis? Alright, so books are a bit bonkers as an idea. What about music? Do you think anyone under the Whiskey Media roof honestly wants to HEAR something like Britney Spears...let alone criticize whether she has some form of justified musical talent?
If anything, music and books are the two places I'd NEVER want a Whiskey Media site to go.
Personally, I'd like to see them do the obvious: an alcohol review site.
" @Brodehouse:Whiskey does the community support stuff well enough that you could probably get a good game going online. I'd kill to get a good World of Darkness game with some cool Giant Bombers. Preferably Hunter!
I'd go for the inevitable RPG board, mainly because GB doesn't have one :P.
I have no idea what that means, which is why I'd like the RPG board as an introduction of sorts.
Music seems like too subjective a subject to be able to pull off.

" Music seems like a bit ambitious, they would probably need as many staff as Giantbomb has, for a userbase that may not be that big. I'd like to see a table-top/modelling site, that would be cool. "There is way to much music in the world for a music site. At least with Screened or GiantBomb if you are into movies or games they will cover something you are into. I don't see how this is remotely possible with music. There are entire sites dedicated to single sub-genres with full time staff that can't cover it all. Personally I get my indie news and Lady Gaga news from separate sources.
Lets not forget everybody and their mother makes music and is in a band. Can you imagine how much spam there would be in the GB forums if half of the people here made games?
" @Godlyawesomeguy said:At least he can spell." Porn site. Make it happen whiskey media. "your 14 lol "
On topic, I'm getting really worried about the whole Whiskey expansion thing; it seems like site popularity is going down for each new site. I personally only frequent GB, Tested and Screened. I love Giant Bomb, and while Will and Norm seem cool and informed, they only publish an article or two a day and the rest is all done by faceless freelancers publishing what I feel is about half quality content and half useless "news" - not to mention the fact that there's no community content like on every other site.
Screened seems like a perfect fit, and maybe it's just me, but it seems like that site is getting a tiny draw compared to the other Whiskey sites; look at how fast the GB database filled up on day one, and them you can tell that even well over a month into screen there are tons and tons of completely blank pages for relatively new or popular actors or movies.
I'm no engineer or businessman, but I just know that I love Giant Bomb way too much to have it be brought down by some extreme level of expansion by Whiskey. While I think what they do is cool, unleashing more sites when their newest ones barely have any footing seems like a bad move, and I think it should be a way bigger priority to pimp out their current sites, like the TV Screened content or some sort of tech database for Tested.
tl;dr I hope they don't start any new sites for a while.
