I have asked some people this very question and can´t get a good answer so I´m turning to you internet! Have you ever seen or heard of a movie that takes place in space, where no one dies? I´m not trying to find a particular film, I´m just curious to see if such a film exists, because I´ve never seen a "casual" space flick where there´s no shooting and no one dies.
Space = Death?
" Apollo 13. Though, people die in a flashback that isn't in space. "That and Space Cowboys I think.

" @HandsomeDead said:No. Tommy Lee Jones dies at the end on the moon." Apollo 13. Though, people die in a flashback that isn't in space. "That and Space Cowboys I think. "
Okay let me re-frase the question;
Has anyone ever seen a film that takes place in space, kids movies not included, in which no one dies(flashbacks included)?
I'm struggling to think of many non-children's movies as a whole that don't feature death in some capacity. Mainly just rom-coms.
Films set in outer-space are typically action, or at the very least drama. Genres that don't feature death (like romantic comedies) are pretty well never (that I can think of) set in space.
We can hope that some super small civilization hits his body and his ass as well as later finding God. Then he can return home." 2001: A Space Odyssey

I'll see you, and raise you by a Douglas Adams reference to God:

To be fair, the reference was actually to a line in one of the bonus episodes on the DVD set, which never aired on television. So it was fairly obscure to begin with.

This show has been going downhill since Season Three." To be fair, the reference was actually to a line in one of the bonus episodes on the DVD set, which never aired on television. So it was fairly obscure to begin with.

" @dbz1995: Phantom Menace? The audience died, but I don't know if that counts. "Heyo.
What the hell are you looking for? A Space Romance/Porn?
Even in sci-fi books people die for one reason or another, in space or on the ground. That's what gives it dramatic flare.
Frank from 2001 is found and revived in Arthur C. Clark's 3001: The Final Odyssey. I suppose you could assume he survived in the movie versison, too?
Nobody dies in the new star trek, if by nobody you mean bajillions of people, for a plot that while entertaining wasn't exactly worth it.
God damn it, JJ Abrams. Vulcans aren't elves.
Oh, and the whole point of going to space is for people to die, preferably in weird ways. Otherwise why the F*$% is your movie in SPACE?!
(no hostility intended towards threadstarter)
One of these has to meet " h as anyone ever seen a film that takes place in space, kids movies not included, in which no one dies(flashbacks included)?"
