Wars.
I always preferred the perpetual war setting of the Star Wars series. And I vastly prefer most of the starship designs from Star Wars over the flying dinner plate star trek designs.
Star Wars or Star Trek?
I personally love Star Wars, mainly for the reason that many have pointed out. I like fantasy better than Sci-Fi, and Star Wars is basically old fantasy stories retold with a space theme.
However, as I've gotten older, I've come to really take an interest in Sci-Fi (mainly through video games like Mass Effect) and though I still don't know if I can stomach watching old Trek, JJ Abrams new movie certainly looks to have punch and I'm certainly not averse to watching Next Generation era Star Trek just to get my foot in the door.

I enjoyed just as many Star Trek movies as I have enjoyed Star Wars moives. I enjoyed Next Gen, and DS9, but never really got into the other shows. Where I think Star Wars wins is in the books and games. There has been a ton of good Star Wars books, cant really say the same for Star Trek. Game wise, well lets just say Star Trek has yet to bring out a game to critical success on the other side of the coin Star Wars has had its fair share of good games (and its share of stinkers)
Babylon 5 > Deep Space Nine > Wrath of Kahn > Star Wars > Rest of Star Trek
So...a draw I guess?
EDIT: And this is probably premature, but I'd probably put the new Trek movie between Kahn and Star Wars. Really depends where they go with the franchise, but so far I'm very impressed.
Right now, I'm liking Star Trek better. TNG and DS9 were great series.
This whole Clone Wars 3D series is ruining Star Wars for me.
"Baring MB said:I totally agree with your point about the lack of quality Star Trek games. They really need to make a good RTS along the lines of Sins of a Solar Empire. I played Star Trek Armada II and thought it was playable, but very rudimentary and completely lacking in depth. There was a Star Trek MMO I heard about that sounds like it could be good, but as a rule I generally keep my distance from MMOs for fear of getting too sucked in and losing my job, my girlfriend and anything else requiring time and effort..."I have practically blocked the Star Wars prequel films from memory."O man how cool would it be if Star Wars made the three movies before New Hope...I enjoyed just as many Star Trek movies as I have enjoyed Star Wars moives. You should have added a both option. Most people are fans of both.
Star Wars only has 6 movies & a cartoon movie that are good, but limiting. However, the Star Wars video games kick ass.
Star Trek has 10-20x more movie & TV show content & a lot of it is a blast to watch. The Star Trek games that have come out suck though. I recall back in the early 2000s where this one team wanted to make a video game where you played the Borg going around assimilating everything...unfortunately it never got off the drawing board, but I think that game would have rocked if it had been developed.
Lastly, the latest Star Trek 11 movie uses Lucasarts. So in the end, Star Wars lives on....INSIDE the Star Trek movies!!
"Can't disagree with you there. I have practically blocked the Star Wars prequel films from memory."
It's not so bad once you watch it the second or third time through.
"Star Wars, but I have only seen more of Star Wars though."Well you have a ton of work ahead of you. I'd start with Star Wars: Original Series & work up from there to get caught up.

Once you see Star Trek XI you'll kick yourself in the ass for being ignorant.
"That's confusing.I would say that this is the Definative answer
Don't forget Star Trek was way before Star Wars
Second and Third Star Wars film was better than the first (IV,V) So...Everything
Old Star Wars (v,vi) = All Trek ≥ Old Star Wars (iv) >> New Star Wars
Just Films
Old Star Wars (v,vi) ≥ Star Trek Films > Old Star Wars (iv) >> New Star Wars Films
Done And Done, And I mean Done "

"Old Star Wars was better than old Star Trek. New Star Trek is better than new Star Wars."I totally agree with you!
Adding fuel to the fire:
Um, new star trek sucks. Like voyager and stuff. Except the movie.
My lord, the new movie was brilliant.
Old star trek rules! william shatner ftw.
Old Star wars is better then the new star wars....
But i would say star trek. :)
Star Wars hands down...well 4,5,6 that is. Episode 1,2,3 is just Lucas taking a big shit on my childhood memories of Star Wars.
star trek is probably actually better... but it's really long and drawn out and i don't think i could ever actually watch it.
I watched the first episode of DS9 but was freaking bored because of how long it was.
star wars is just awesome though
