In looking for a decent site to keep up with video games, a friend recommended GB. So far it seems to be what I'm looking for with news, reviews and all the things you expect from such a place.

But the thing that has me really intrigued is the quests! That is unlike anywhere else I have ever been and really encourages exploration of the whole site and history of video games. Looking forward to working my way through some of them.

Sup, duder!

One thing: If you want news make sure you browse the forums. GB is not your place for the latest happenings in the industry.

And also make sure to click on the podcasts tab at the top to listen to the Bombcasts. That's where you'll hear opinions on new games and hummingbird masks.

Glad to have you. GB isn't great on a lot of news because it isn't the sort of site that reports on most things. Patrick does a great job of getting into the nitty-gritty on some interesting stories, and Alex seems to hit the rest. You'll find your blow-by-blow news fix at places like Destructoid or Joystiq.

But as of now, you won't find a gaming site more entertaining than Giant Bomb. Well, at least until Polygon launches. Based on their opinions of themselves, they'll be making Angels weep with their beauty and the mountains crumble under the weight of their glory. Then again, they might be a little full of themselves seeing as they have yet to launch their actual site.

Welcome!

Just be wary of the passing Sonic guy (you will know him one day.) Also be very wary of talking about anything to do with politics on here... mods aren't happy when it comes to that kinda stuff. Oh, and proceed to bail if a shitstorm builds up... by that I mean something as HUGE as Mass Effect 3 ending level of anger. So yeah. Be prepared to pack your bags for a day or so when stuff like that happens.

'ello!

A quick warning: There's a 5-post limit per 24 hour period until you get to 25 posts; this is to stop spammers and other unwelcome rabble. It's kind of rude but it's better to have a warning.

Anyway, welcome, have fun, and watch the Persona 4 Endurance Run.

So everyone call themselves the best user eh! Welcome to GB my friend!

Thanks for the warm welcome so far! Not sure I've ever seen so many posts on a new user thread before but that's a great start. The users here do seem pretty cool from my stumbling around yesterday. Hopefully I'll have something useful to contribute to the community here.
