Just when you thought syfy's jaws/aliens ripoffs couldn't gen any worse or funnier, this is coming out. I'm not quite sure if it's the work of an insane person or a total genius. Plus it has Eric Roberts.

I just want to say.
That animal is fucking brilliant :D
#3 Posted by The_Laughing_Man (12081 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

Any Sci-fi original movie is garbage. They all suck massively.

#4 Posted by CyborgNixon (99 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

When the people who were creating CGI back in the day, I wonder if they ever thought that people would use it to create stuff like this.
#5 Posted by ryanwho (12083 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

When will mankind learn. You cannot control the sharktopus.

#6 Posted by TheGreatGuero (9065 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

Wowwwwww.

Holy fuck...Syfy's incessant merging of two aquatic creatures into a "film" never fails to shock me. I love how after all these years of Syfy making movies, their special effects have not gotten any better, even though decent effects should be pretty cheap these days. I've seen fucking YouTube videos with better production values than this shit.

Atleast in Jaws you were safe out of the water, but the sharktopus can walk on land!

When it's intentionally ironic, it's not ironic.

EDIT: Wait, Eric Roberts? Sold!

@TheMustacheHero:
Guy #1- This technology will revolutionize the film industry for the better!
Guy #2- Yes it shall!
Guy #3-What if sometime in the future, someone uses our technology to create bad movies, like a shark and octopus combined into some sort of SHARTOPUS!!!!
Guy #1- Now you're just being ridiculous!
Guy #2- Yeah, like that would ever happen!
#13 Posted by BraveToaster (12588 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

What the fuck?

#14 Posted by Atomasist (2817 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

Makes me happy I can watch the Syfy channel. Shit like this makes life worth living!

#17 Posted by Hailinel (18024 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

And this is what happens when you give Roger Corman access to CG special effects.  Why does this surprise anyone?

#18 Posted by RandomInternetUser (6779 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

AHAHAHAHAHA.   Looks like a great laugh.

#19 Posted by adoggz (1877 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

these guys have no idea what they are doing. when I think of a sharktopus I think of an octopus with sharks for tentacles.

#20 Posted by TimeWaffle (941 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

Funny trailer...

Let's hope it stays that way.

As a trailer I mean.

#24 Posted by CyborgNixon (99 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

If they're willing to make this, syfy might actually make manbearpig the movie.
#25 Edited by iKANNIBAL (601 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

SyFy rules, and what happened to Sci fi? why the name change

I grew up on their Cheesy low budget Sci-fi horror flicks, they make me happy.

Roger Corman is involved in this? He's still producing campy movies at his age?  Now I'm interested. Dude is responsible for more MST3K movies than I can count on both hands.
#27 Edited by Bear (243 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

Now all they need to do is make a movie that pits Sharktopus against Dinoshark. That would be awesome.

@Bear:
"we gonna need a bigger chopper". Where or where have I heard something like that before...
#31 Posted by PenguinDust (12091 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago
My aunt won an Oscar, my dad made Sharktopus
I heard there is a movie starring Debbie Gibson and Tiffany coming from SyFy Channel, too called "Megapython vs Gatoroid". SOURCE They really are keeping kids from the 80's out of foreclosure.  Honestly, I think SyFy is doing this with the intention of making bad movies, but usually it's the movies which were supposed to be good but turn out so horrible that they're hysterical that have lasting value.

This really made me laugh, brilliant stuff.

I love me some SyFy Original Movies.

#40 Posted by WoodenPlatypus (1365 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

These movies (the youtube clips) are hilarious. Especially the giant shark eating the plane :P
I wonder if they have little cards with names of animals all over the world and put them in a hat and pull two out.
Imagine some of the creations...
MonkeyOctopus!
The terrifying CrabSnail!

Just a few I would like to see. I think this calls for a photoshop quest :D

Looks like 1995 CGI.

#45 Posted by DarkGamerOO7 (574 posts) - 2 years, 9 months ago

That "film" looks just as ridiculous as Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus which had this seen in it for pitty sakes!

@Piglet:   When was that?  I saw an Oscar nomination for Supporting Actor in 1985 for his role in Runaway Train, but I don't see him mentioned on the Wikipedia list of "Honorary Academy Awards"  It's just that this is the first I am hearing of this.
