Tireyo's Personal Appeal
Anime is actually still a genre that is very unfamiliar territory to me. However, last year when I started to really watch some anime, good and bad, I've realized that there is some great music hidden within all these shows and movies that go unrecognized by many folks. To recognize their hard work, AgentJ, CloudEnvy and I have picked out songs we like from different anime shows or movies!
I must say that doing this was very tough for me to do as I went through song after song searching for something I like and want to share with everyone. Even though I've came across some ear bleeding music that made me want to stop and turn completely away at times from making and starting this, it was completely worth it! Out of all the things I've listened to, I have never come across such a great music selection from a genre that I don’t necessarily watch a lot of. There are a lot of beautiful classical style, orchestrated, rock and many other genres that come from this unlikely source that is anime.
There are a few songs that I think need special attention on my part. “Ghost in a Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig – Living inside the Shell” makes me think of a singer that I like very much, which is Seal. I think if Seal was to sing this song, it would turn out rather nice as I think it would be something that he would sing! I like the song as it is though, and it is well worth listening to. Last year I watched Mushi-shi and very much loved it. Another thing I loved about this anime was the music. The whole soundtrack to me is amazing, but no song has stood out to me quite like the song that plays at the beginning, The Sore Feet Song. Just like Mushi-shi, I’ve came to really enjoy Cowboy Bebop’s entire soundtrack as well, but I believe that “Tank” is one of the best songs that was ever made for the beginning of a show. Also, there is one song that I couldn't stop laughing at once I heard it, and that would be Super Hero from Lupin the Third. It’s retro charm, quirkiness, and beat is hard to ignore!
Again, even though anime is unfamiliar territory for me, it doesn't mean that I didn't grow up watching some sort of anime! The few anime that I have watched would be Tenchi Muyo, Pokemon, and the one and only Dragonball Z. It would be very wrong of me not to even mention anime that I’ve grew up with and liked! Out of those three, Pokemon was the most memorable, which makes Dragonball Z being second, and Tenchi Muyo last. In my opinion, the one that had the best opening theme is Tenchi Muyo, but the one with the best soundtrack is Pokemon. So take a listen to the songs I've picked from my childhood anime favorites!
Special Thanks
I want to give special thanks to AgentJ and CloudEnvy for working on this Anime Jukebox with me. Be sure to read what they have said in their appeals and listen to their amazing song selections as well. I also give special thanks to ZombiePie for recommending and introducing me to the anime Metropolis, as it has an outstanding soundtrack. Also, my thanks goes to Giant Bomb's very own SexyToad for making AgentJ's, CloudEnvy's, and my song selections into YouTube playlists for your convenience!

AgentJ's Personal Appeal
Hi, I'm AgentJ. You may not remember me, but back in the day I was a Giantbomb forum regular. Since then, life has largely eliminated my opportunity to participate in video game forums (there are some less nerd-tastic frights I frequent these days) but have come back into the gaming fold in recent months with a new 5GPM policy (as in, finish five games per month). I'm currently on the last vestiges of my PSP collection, having already finished The 3rd Birthday and now on Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.
Anime was another hobby that I stepped away from for a few years, before a couple of titles in 2009 and 2010 pulled me back in. My experience with the medium goes back to the 90's, with Gundam Wing and other Toonami regulars. Thanks to a certain site that shall remain nameless, my Ipod has been populated with my favorite tracks for many a year. Below are some of the top pieces I have retained, but before that a few awards:
Worst anime with best music: Guilty Crown
Best music-centric anime: BECK
Best overall soundtrack: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Best Openings (also found below): Hitomi no Tsubasa, Rise, Almateria, Chain

CloudEnvy's Personal Appeal
Animation has always interested me as an art form so it was inevitable that I would one day get into anime. It's a flexible medium capable of taking great risks due to the very limited audience, airing time and budget, sadly it's also capable of shows being overly similar to each other. At times it's probably been a bigger part of my life than I like to admit and I have waded through more bad than good, that's for sure, but somehow it all becomes worth it when you get reminded just how much creativity this medium is capable of.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that people should really give it a shot. Ask people for recommendations or go hunt for titles on your own, I'd be surprised if there isn't something out there for everyone even if it's just a show or two.
Oh, and some of the music is cool too.
