The Beatles, they have had more of a impact on my life than the Stones have. I went to school in St John's Wood just off Abbey Road, and would spend many lunchtimes getting stoned a scribbling shit on wall, while listening to and singing along to their music. I sound very like him, people have said so. Man I cannot wait!

+ I have sat on John Lennon's toilet and climbed up his white ladder, so I have to go with them.

I love both bands, but The Beatles are probably more innovative and relevant in the long run. Plus, Rolling Stones never had a Sgt. Pepper. I wouldn't consider Exile on Main Street their best album, probably Let It Bleed, and that isn't close.

Beatles. The Stones just weren't as innovative or original.

Both bands are excellent. I respect the innovation and originally of the Beatles, but personally I prefer "You Can't Always Get What You Want" over "Hey Jude." But it's really fucking close, I love both bands.

From that era of music, I would say;

1)The Beatles
2)The Kinks (are they appreciated in the U.S?, I've always wondered)
3)The Rolling Stones

I've always thought that the stones should have split up mid 70's
but the beatles just got it right.

The Stones are great, but for me nothing beats the Beatles. I'm not ashamed to say that I will buy pretty much any amount of Beatles: Rock Band DLC HMX releases. So here's a blank check, HMX: make me happy :)

I prefer The Rolling Stones myself. I love some Beatles songs, but just don't like some of their more poppy stuff. The Rolling Stones is just more type of music.

I think there is ample variation myself, througout the ten years, there was certainly lots of experimentation. Also for me, is the knowing that they had lots of creativity and varying styles of music within them, by that I mean their individual careers wherethey were all successful. Macca, as godly as he is, was actually quite restricted also, in the sense what was demanded from him as a soing writer, was catchy music. That's how they broke and that's what people came to expect from The Beatles, at the time. It's was only in the last years of the group that they really began to open their wings more, with the heavy aid of drugs.

I enjoy The Beatles a bit more then The Stones.
Doors are awesome and so are the Kinks, but I also enjoy the Zombies which I believe were around that time. THey had some decent stuff like Shes not there, time of the season, and Tell her No.
The Yardbirds were also awesome as well.
The 60s had some really kick ass bands I think.

I think The Beatles are definitely one of the greatest bands of all time and one of the most influential, but imo, The Stones are just an all around better band. Can't really explain it - all I can say is that, out of what, at least ten studio albums, I have never heard anything from The Stones that is short of fantastic. The Beatles had that bubble gum pop at the beginning of their career, which wasn't bad, just not amazing.
