SO were are my slaves? The Bible says slavery is moral, so why dont I have any slave..........ohh wait could it be the fact that morals dont really exist! That might just be.............morals are whatever the majority believes what harms society, the is no wrong and right, all wrong means is that it hurts others, emotionally or phyically(sp , whats right today may not be right tommorrow, no where in the bible does it say that! Morals like god are human made!~End Rant~flame war begin!

Do you rent Chester out, I like a good sandwhich but there is never a slave around when you need one these days.

Exodous, Leviticus and Duteronomy all define laws dealing with slave ownership, but it's more in reference to a type of indentured servitude than permanent slavery. Whether or not the bible says you can or can't have slaves, modern laws say you can't and contrary to what most religious fundamentalist will tell you, modern laws trump the mosaic laws in most cases.

It also says if you're really poor, you can just go out in fields and eat your fill too.

Their concept of slavery was different than ours, so I was told.

I'm sure there were some stories of people having indentured servants (Even prominent figures in the Bible). It never says it's moral though.

Yes, there were slaves back then. The verses on slavery are all about being nice to your slaves, not "Thou shalt keepeth slaves!" Now, you have to consider that this was a long time ago when slavery was acceptable and seen as nowhere near wrong. I'm also willing to bet that their definition of slavery wasn't exactly the same as ours.

We got over that long ago.

If the OP is speaking of Judaic slavery, then yes, the Bible does condone slaves in an incredibly loose sense. Somewhere between indentured servitude and full-out slavery is where those rules are positioned.

Oh you didn't hear? God is not good. He's just FN powerful so much so that people follow his words in fear of getting on his bad side. Besides slavery, there was a bunch of stuff that happened in the bible that is simply not moral. Yet overtime it was edited to be "God works in mysterious ways."

While I love moral philosophy, this is not the place I think we should be discussing this.  Most people just couldn't hold a vailid conversation on the origin or universality of morality.
