Since the dawn of time man has asked himself one question, how should I cook my bacon? It is a question that has plagued kings and scholars throughout the ages and I, a humble man, now ask it to you gentlemen and lady. Decide once and for all in this very thread, what is the best bacon; Crispy or Soft?

A mixture, Too crispy and it tastes like powder, too soft and it tastes too raw.

Crispy with toasted bread or as a stand alone side.

Soft if on a sub or wrapped (filet, hotdog, etc.)

I like it soft myself. I have never liked crispy bacon and don't understand what people see in it. Each there own and all that, but crispy people are crazy. =)

Soft. Always soft.

I like a nice middle ground, of course either can be fine depending on what its in or on. Nobody would want crispy bacon in an omelet because omelets are nice and soft.

Soft is definitely better than crispy in general though.

Depends. American style has to be cooked crispy otherwise the fat is just sickening, but English style has enough meat for the fat to be removed easily and should be cooked soft.

Soft. Always.

Crispy (but not burnt or stuck together)!

#11 Posted by radar5 (160 posts) -

I like it to be nice and chewy, but not to a degree of rawness.

This is up or debate? Crispy. Who the fuck chooses soft? You eat soft cus you swore off proper bacon and your shit is made of turkey or tofu. Nobody chooses that shit.

#13 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -

How is this even a question?! No one reasonable person eats their bacon any way other than exceptionally crispy!

#14 Posted by BunkerBuster (1042 posts) -

Bacon that doesn't taste like Carbon is bacon that I don't want. :)

#15 Posted by ape_dosmil (514 posts) -

Overly crispy bacon doesn't even taste like meat, what a waste. You may as well be eating bacon flavoured potato chips at that point.

There is only one anwser to this question, and that is: crispy.

#17 Posted by MysteriousBob (6273 posts) -

Not at all. The smell alone literally makes me sick.

#18 Posted by _Horde (838 posts) -

I like my bacon crispy when the bacon is a main part of the meal, but I like it soft when it's on a burger.

#19 Posted by nikolai_nyg@yahoo.com (9 posts) -

Soft, definitely

#20 Posted by Meltbrain (2966 posts) -

I can go both ways on this one, actually. Most days I prefer my bacon to be slightly soft, but some days I just want that shit crispy as hell.

Soft. I can't stand crispy bacon. It even ruined the most amazing thing in the world, the baconator.

#24 Posted by Cwaff (1259 posts) -

Either way though I lean towards soft. Any bacon is good bacon.

Crispy but not crunchy.  Too often when people cook bacon crispy they over cook it and it turns into a hard brittle rock-like substance.  That's just a waste of good bacon.

#27 Posted by Alcamin (151 posts) -

Crispy every time. The more the better actually, as long as it's not burnt. That's to far even for my extreme tastes. I just find that crunch very satisfying.

#28 Posted by Hector (3346 posts) -

Semper soft!

#29 Posted by Snipzor (3317 posts) -

Slightly crispy, can't be too crispy otherwise I wouldn't enjoy it to the best of my abilities. Bacon creation is an art, so my good conscious dictates neither answer is appropriate in representing reality.

Ugh...who the fuck would want to eat soggy, flaccid bacon?

#32 Posted by MannyCalavera (105 posts) -
@jackbag:   Well, reading this thread, i'd say more people than i thought.
#33 Posted by Dalai (6880 posts) -

Crispy... I mean really crispy. Like almost blackened crispy.

#34 Posted by Blackmoore (254 posts) -

I want crispy edges, soft center.

#35 Posted by Liono88 (368 posts) -

Lemme feel that delicious crunch as the heavenly bacon gets devoured. Screw that limp crap.

I'll tell you Commies.

I like my Bacon slimy...but I will take my Bacon either way.  Pemeal Bacon pwns all

#42 Posted by UnrulyRuffian (113 posts) -

*Decent* bacon should always be cooked whilst still soft. Cut the fat off if needs be, but don't fucking cremate it!

I wish I was a mod so I could ban you for that comment. Heretic! =)

I'm not even a huge fan of bacon, but if I have to have it then crispy, and preferably on a breakfast sandwich that involves egg.

#45 Posted by SlightConfuse (3963 posts) -

Crispy all the way

#46 Edited by MrKlorox (11186 posts) -

Crispy but not burnt. There's a fine line, and that line has the perfect texture.

Bacon should break, not crumble or tear.

#47 Edited by Milkman (16228 posts) -

It needs a good combination of both. I refuse to vote.

#48 Posted by Toxin066 (3197 posts) -

Crispy, just the way Zeus eats his. Soft bacon? You might as well be chowing down on flaccid penis.
