The next Batman is... Ben Affleck?

Ben Affleck will be replacing Christian Bale's role as Batman. Comic fans should remember that Affleck was already a comic book hero in the movie Daredevil. Hopefully it doesn't suck as much as the next Batman movie. Variety reports that Affleck will be the next Batman so our worst fears have been realized. Not to be the devil's advocate but Heath Ledger was casted as The Joker so maybe Affleck can actually pull of the dark knight role in the next Batman movie?

I'd rather he direct than star. Or direct and star. I've liked every one of his movies.

I kinda think this is potentially awesome, I like ben affleck and he can definitely be the more gritty hero type based on his performance in the town for example.

Also, since he's like, actually a good director, maybe he can carry Zack Snyder a bit.

I like Ben Affleck, and he can do a damn fine job as Bruce Wayne, I think. And Jennifer Garner can probably whip him into fighting shape

Affleck is a fantastic actor, so he's got that part covered - I just wonder if he can throw dark enough for Batman.

I wish they'd release the audition footage like The Last of Us and other games have recently.

I think he'll do an OK job. They will need to make the Batman character less edgy for it to work, though; let him be witty rather than dark.

If you would have told me this ten years ago, I would have thought it was a terrible idea. After The Town and Argo though, I'm on board with Affleck. I'd rather him direct though.

If Ben Affleck was directing I'd be really excited, but I'm as ambivalent now as I was before. Zack Snyder is a known quantity at this point so we should expect from the upcoming Supes/Batman movie what we got from Man of Steel. How you feel about that comment probably depends on how you felt about MoS.

Affleck is a decent choice. I was hoping for someone with a bigger build (like that wolf dude from Trueblood) but whatever, guess people like their Batmen scrawny.

Now lets hope that somehow Affleck ends up directing this thing and it might turn out alright.

I was mostly tied to the universe and tone that Nolan created with his take on Batman, not so much with Bale as the batman so I don't really have a problem with this.

I think he's a fine choice. The Town and Argo were great and he definitely wasn't the worst part of Daredevil.

Same here. I cannot conceive of what an Affleck-directed superhero movie would look like, but I'm confident it would be far better than whatever Snyder's going to produce.
