Tbh I think this gen is fine. Video games have pretty much caught up with the quality of television, so I don't see how they can get any better. Unless...

I think video games are going to become more stylistic. I.e. addition of video affects, cut scenes that go beyond what we see today and et cetera. But who can really know?

- id like to see the mmo reinvented. most mmo's are all around pretty similar gameplay-wise. level up, get better gear etc. there must be a way to expand upon that relatively simple concept. 
- i think in the console market developers and publishers will continue to try a 'snatch n grab' for cash from you at every turn (not unlike dlc, which instead of being added content, really is content they just leave out and make you pay more for later in most cases)

3D is stupid an pointless. We still haven't even gotten to complete photorealism in games or cg films. If your question is after that, where will they go, I will answer this question. Honestly, I think the next step in visual entertainment, whether it be video games movies or TV, should be concave viewing devices. Devices that curve at the edges to sorta give you a bigger look into the world you are seeing. This is such a cliche example, but if you imagine your screen as a hole looking into another world, why not make that hole curved like your eyes. Imagine playing a game and being able to see whats happening on the periphery of your character. I think this would be a pretty good way to go instead of this stupid 3D shit. But if 3D is really what you want, then you also want these curved screens. I think the key is not to make the the picture pop out but to make the picture sink in, and I feel like a curved screen could benefit this greatly. 
 
This is just my opinion though. Someone tell me why I am wrong lol :P

i would say handhelds are going to be soon something. they are going to be games that look awesome with graphics and gameplay. 
 
another one are games are going to be online only. games are going to be become more like MMOs'.

Idk how they work but it'll be real science-y.
