That's because rap is almost universally bad. Rock is much more appreciated, simply because it doesn't suck.

I agree, I usually don't bother trying to prove people wrong when they say things like that though, because instead of saying they don't like the genre, they just flat out say that it sucks.

I like both rap and rock but neither have been very original in the past 10 years. Guess that's why most bands I listen to aren't around any more.

whatever doesn't give me a headache is what i listen to, and either one is good but rock has more followers and performers (that i know of ) so therefore there is going to be more people who like rock then rap so more people in the world to say rap sucks

Thats because regardless of what type of rock it is(except for  small occasions) it is still 'music' you are still hearing at least the most basic of instruments being played, and at least a tiny bit of talent, rap isn't music to begin with...and syncing up computerized beats doesn't count for music or talent. So if anyone who likes rap were to say that, they are simply wrong and contradicting themselves, as with the other way around, it is completely true.

So much more musicianship can be found in rock. Rock music has left a bigger impact and legacy behind than rap ever will. Rap is straight up garbage. It's just a bunch of sounds recorded on a synthesizer with some burnout named Tyrone mumbling the lyrics in his basement. Then, somehow, this shit sells really well with the younger crowd. No talent whatsoever.

Rock is just a lot better than rap. I mean, I haven't seen "RapBand" yet, have you?

Rock is to comfortable in its many divisions (Metal, Punk, Alternative, Nu Metal etc.)
Rap is seen as all the same, which is a shame because some artists are truly talented instead of the generic 'I got money and bitches' crowd

Fact: Whenever I hear any real rap, I just think "Man, this singer needs to get punched in the face"
