PS2 is my fave system. Slim one i have.
There's Something Wrong With My PlayStation 2
The "overworked, underpaid, and understandably indifferent retail workers" Jeff refers to may likely be, I suspect, the ones who currently (don't) work at Circuit City.
I used to be really big into console modding & recognized one of those pics instantly.
The last pic is a fliptop cover mod. Installing this mod allows you to easily swap discs in order to boot burned copies of PS2/PS1 games & imports without the need for a modchip. A PS2 software exploit & a homebrew program is used to partially load a legitimate PS disc & then stop the disc from spinning(the disc stops right after the piracy check is complete). You would then open the fliptop, swap out the original disc for a back-up/pirated disc, close the fliptop & then press a button on your controller. The disc will resume spinning tricking the console into thinking the original (legitimate) disc is still in the drive & BOOM... your pirated and or back-up version of a game boots up.
PS. In no way do I encourage videogame piracy. I'm just passing on some info for those who have never seen a mod such as this one.
im guessing someone made that in shop class, and wanted to make a quick buck. the shame of some people.
I'm sure he added the sticker to the back because the PS2 box has a small window on the back that exposes the serial number. Pretty clever and ballsy... and scummy.
"That's pathetic... what a bunch of crummy little buggers. Paint some wood black and put a sticker on it and they think it's better off that way?"
In the shady peoples' defense . . . . they did get away with it. So... you can't really argue that the wood with a sticker on it technique didn't work....
