Top Ten Giant Monsters You Would Like To See In Real Life?

#1 Edited by Psykhophear (918 posts) - 4 months, 17 days ago

Natural disaster is a horrifying thing. Just the thought of seeing your hometown or your favorite vacation spots being attacked by tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, epidemics and more is an unthinkable experience and it causes nothing but trouble and grief to the world. But what if; instead of natural disasters, we have giant monsters terrorizing the world instead? Would it make it any difference or it would it still be as terrifying as Mother Nature's wrath?

Obviously, we wouldn't want this to happen in our lifetime but assuming we live in a fictional universe while keeping this in an innocent and "what if?" perspective, name the top ten giant monsters you would like to see terrorizing the city/ world in real life?

Here's mine:

  1. Godzilla
  2. Mr. Stay Puft - Marshmallow Man (Ghostbusters, 1984)
  3. Galactus (Marvel comics universe)
  4. Cthulhu (Call of Cthulhu, 1928)
  5. King Kong
  6. Colossus of Rhodes (God of War II, 2007)
  7. Cronos the Titan (God of War, 2005)
  8. King Ghidora
  9. The Blob (The Blob, 1958)
  10. The Kraken (Clash of The Titans, 1981)

Does Clifford the Big Red Dog count? I hear he's pretty big.

I'll say Kraid, he really needs the work.

You mean this guy? He's my favorite too. Maybe I should've included the Third Colossus in my list too.

@Psykhophear: Cool thread, but who in their right mind would want any creature from the Cthulu universe?! That just seems like you're ready to step into hell and be tortured for eternity.

I'll second you though on Galactus.

I would. Heh heh. I'm a huge fan of the Cthulhu Mythos and I wouldn't mind being a follower of the Great Old Ones for real. Lol, joking. To this day, I'm still waiting to see Cthulhu making his appearance on the big screen. Too bad there aren't many Cthulhu fans in Hollywood (as far as I know).

Damn shame Galactus didn't make a proper appearance in that Fantastic Four sequel. Would love to see the Silver Surfer and the gang kicking his ass.

@Psykhophear: I've been waiting for Cthulu to hit the silver screen as well, but I don't think it will happen anytime soon. Not only would the design choices of Cthulu be put under a microscope by every single fan of the series, but the plot of the story would as well. I'm easily entertained (I really loved the new Transformers movies), so none of that means anything to me; but I can easily see the butthurt that the fans of the series would feel when it doesn't match their exact imaginations. :P

Wouldn't Galactus be terrorising the whole planet with one hand? I forget how big he actually is supposed to be but that would be pretty awesome - and obviously ridiculously terrifying!

Master Hand (off of Super Smash Bros) and Brumaks (off of Gears of War) also come the mind as being awesome/ridiculous terrifying beings

Godzilla and King Kong would be cool and they probably wouldn't be too hard to stop. Mothera would be neat too.

If it's all the same to you I'd rather not have giant monsters at all. There's enough monsters in humanity to be going on with for the time being.

Cthulhu-type shit where you completely lose your mind and can't fathom living any longer.

from The Mist

I'd pretty much do what the characters in the movie do at the end.

A 20-foot tall Katy Perry wearing a short skirt and no panties?

Some kind of super hot giant lady. A red dragon could be cool to see too. I'm surprised no one has said Lavos. That would be a shitty day for everyone.

Gothmog, King Kong, Godzilla, Wailord (he's pretty fucking huge, I mean he is a blue whale).

I can't think of anymore, except one of the Colossi from Shadows of the Colossus.
