Are you excited or upset about these remakes? I, for one, am not sure about them... I love the IPs, but I'm not sure if I need them being remade right now. On the one hand I love both of these movies but, on the other hand, is too soon to remake them? just wondering what other duders feel about them...
Total Recall / Judge Dredd
I was ambivalent until I saw trailers for both films. I'm cautiously optimistic for Dredd, and am pretty sure Total Recall will be a good movie.
So all in all I'm surprised by how good they look.
I'm stoked for Judge Dredd, but I'm convinced that Total Recall can't live up to SEE YOU AT DE PAHTY, RICHTAH.
I think Dredd will be absolutely dreadful. I'm don't know what to think about Total Recall other than tri-breasted Asian beauties.

It looks nothing like a Dredd comic at all. At least the Stallone movie looked the part and some of the characters were lifted straight from the comic in their entirety. I'm still waiting on a proper ABC Warriors movie.
Dredd looks pretty awesome, and I have heard nothing but positive buzz so far. I think Len Wiseman knows how to make a slick action movie so I support Total Recall as well (particularly since the movie is apparently based directly on the original short story and is not a direct remake of the film).
Judge Dredd looks like a cheap movie, like a high quality fan made short-film you'd see on YouTube, a spoof, or a live action video game trailer. Total Recall is somewhat better in quality from a visual stand-point, but it doesn't look all that interesting in certain aspects. The thing I think - to me at least - that's apparent, is that these actors seem like weird choices for the leads. I guess all I think is that they don't necessarily look good, but I'm willing to see them. That's my thoughts devoid of opinions on the past films (or comic and short story).
I haven't read the comics of Judge Dredd, but I have looked at Google images and read some of its wiki, and I thought that was all very cool. I don't really think the 1995 movie was great, but Stallone did kind of fit Dredd and the theme song was appropriate. Total Recall with Arnold is a great film, I've seen it many, many times now, but it's now not one I can get through entirely since I've seen it so much, and I've never read We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. So, while I have my eyes on them (Total Recall more so) I can't say I'm that excited for them.

I don't like that they are remaking Total Recall. As a kid of the 80's, I think it's shitty to fuck with Arnold's legacy. It's almost as bad as the True Grit remake from those damn hippies.
The Dredd remake looks ok, and I'm pretty sure people consider the Sly movie a flop. Though I disagree. The kid in me wants them to fail, the action fan inside me (: O) wants a good fight.
So it's The Raid: Redemption now? Ok....

Don't you mean Dreddful?
Anyhoo I just saw the trailer for the Total Recall remake and thought it looked awful, I didn't even know there was a Judge Dredd remake but that movie wasn't even that good originally so meh.
Judge Dredd could be awesome, it seems to have the same premise as The Raid and that movie was amazing.
Total Recall, even though it doesn't have Arnold, i really hope it does well i loved the first movie and i like Colin Ferrel.
People liked Judge Dredd enough for a remake? Isn't he like a welfare robocop or am I thinking something else?
I'm really excited for Dredd, it looks gloriously violent and I have a soft spot for Karl Urban. Won't be seeing Total Recall as my boyfriend is a strict Arnie fan and the original is one of his favourite films of all time, so I doubt he'll take part in the blasphemy. It looks alright, but nothing special. The original is just cheesy and fantastic in equal measure.
I like Judge Dredd to hear Sly Stallone talk all funny, but it is pretty awful. Total Recall will not benefit from a remake. Judge Dredd may???
Though this won't really change anything if they do or don't, but I hope they somehow put Anthrax's "I Am the Law" in Dredd somewhere.
Doesn't matter how good the remake of Judge Dredd will be, It'll always remind me of this.
It's...it's just too good, you really can't beat that.
Think we should reserve... judgement. But honestly I heard so many times that the Stallone Dredd didn't live up to the comic, and the trailer makes it look pretty cool. Also, this is not really a remake, but a reboot, since as I said, they are going for something else.
Total Recall however also has a great trailer, but who knows if the special effects will get in the way, looks like a lot of green screen. Colin Farrell is not really a star, he hasn't made a hit, anytime I think. BUt who knows, it might be a good movie, as much as I love the original. There is a book, but I would call this more of a remake than Dredd because of them including things from the original movie.
But these movies are more susceptible to remakes and reboots because people had issues with the source material not being followed closely and not everyone enjoyed the movie equally. Now one movie we should be worried about is RoboCop. How the fuck can anyone make a better one of those?
Never seen the originals, but I'm beyond excited for Dredd and I couldn't care less about Total Recall.
You've never seen Total Recall? Would it incentivize you to go watch it if I told you there's a whore with three boobs in it?Never seen the originals, but I'm beyond excited for Dredd and I couldn't care less about Total Recall.
I'm kind of amazed at how many of you didn't think the Stallone Judge Dredd was a massive piece of shit. Brotip, that movie was horrible.

For the love of sanity, I hope not.

I worked on both these films and I can't wait to see them on the big screen. Dredd was the first film I ever worked on. I think I even have a credit.... not sure though :/
What exactly did you do if you don't mind me asking?
@SSullyNo, I think he's the lead in both of them. I hear he has a risque love scene with Kate Beckinsale. He wrote them.@Sweep said:

I saw the trailer for Dredd and it looked damn ridiculous. But apparently it's been getting some rather good reviews so I'm not sure. Not a fan of Len Wiseman so I'll probably skip Total Recall.
Dredd is going to be amazing, I think. People who have already seen it, (I s'pose some early critics) have said that there were blown away, and it rivaled The Raid in some spots. Oh, and Karl Urban never takes off the helmet. Also, it's ridiculously fucking violent. I'm so goddamn excited for it.
