Trying to write music for the first time (snippet inside)

Earlier this week I felt like buying a midi controller, thinking it would be a fun thing to mess around once in a while. I started trying out some chord progressions and a few hours later, here's where I'm at.

Bear in mind that I've never used a midi keyboard before, so I guess the song being simple is expected.

The guitar part is pretty much just a placeholder. (I might salvage some of it for an actual melody)

Any input would be appreciated. (be gentle, it's my first post here :x)

The drums are a little overbearing, but I'm definitely getting a pretty fun castlevaniaish feeling off of it. Nice jobu.

I find that the mixing and panning are a really hard and important part of the process. Getting to the sweet spot where every track sounds right takes some experience, I guess.
