Hey I'm travelling to the US in a few weeks and was thinking about purchasing a new laptop, other than warranty, charger problems, DVD regions and a lack of pound signs is there anything else i should be wary of?.

Thanks alot!

You can change all that in the menu though.

Other than the power adapter, everything else can be changed in your OS's options. Most PC DVD players are region free anyhow.

If you're mostly based in the UK though, buy a UK laptop. The power adapters are a pain in the ass to mess around with.

It's been a while since I've had to deal with it, but I thought that PC DVD players will give you three region changes or something like that since the drive manufacturer has no idea where it'll get shipped to. I'm pretty sure you'll have a chance to lock in to your region.

I thought most adapters could work around the world since it is a laptop and people do travel with them. You can just look at the adapter specifications and see if it's compatible with the UK. You'll probably at least have to buy the physical plug to make it fit. At worst, you may have to buy the UK version of that laptop's adapter.

The keyboard layout will be slightly different. While you can set the keyboard layout in windows, it won't change the labels on the keyboard itself.

You call that a problem solved?  The US is many things, but it doesn't solve your problems. ;)
