Vampire vs. Werewolf

I gotta admit, I'm kinda excited to see that new Dracula movie. BAT FIST!!

Guess it depends on what set of rules you follow. Werewolves are normal most of the time, but become Werewolves on (and) around the full moon and go crazy and eat people. Vampires are plagued by a chronic bloodlust and and effectively have their "souls" removed. Whether or not a vampire is you but more of a dick or something more akin to demoic possession is the breaking point here. If it's the former, I'll be a Vampire. Otherwise, Werewolf.

Interview With a Vampire the book by Ann Rice is fucking fantastic. I've never read a wolf novel that was anything near as good as that vampire novel, so my pick is vampires.

Still in film its hardcore but I would choose the wolf. Werewolf in London is fantastic and probably my favorite wolf movie. So its hard for me to choose...but I'd go with the Vampire.

I chose vamp. Also, a vampire would totally whoop a Werewolfs arse. The speed, cunning and strength would be too much for it.

I'd gladly sacrifice my soul and have to drink blood to be immortal - Vampire all the way.

I'd choose to be a vampire, they are basically just dick humans with super powers who can live forever if you are smart enough.

But I much more prefer werewolf movies, they are basically just man eating rampage beasts that stalk you across the countryside, so, that is really cool. Just wouldn't want to be one, vampires get to dress cool, own castles and have lots of sexy lady vampire friends, so that's nice too!

If you've played Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines you know Werewolf is the correct answer.

Amish Republican Vampires

Right on. The first Underworld is the best portrayal of this Vampire vs Werewolf stuff IMO.

I think you're probably right, but I haven't read the Amish Bloodsucker trilogy so there might be some nuance that goes over my head.

Came here to post the same. At least NWOD made them somewhat manageable. OWOD werewolf were just crazy insane overpowered.

Anyway, werewolves are the coolest by nature of The Wolfman being the best of the classic Universal Monster movies. Also, I just find the basic story of most werewolf movies tends to be better, since you get some good psychological and almost body horror stuff in there. That said, werewolves aren't as versatile a monster as vampires, so there tends to be less good stuff, and less stuff overall, about them.

in vampire the masquerade werewolves kill the shit out of vampires. I'd still rather be a vampire though. Tremere more exact.

The game isn't about werewolves at all; it's about vampires. Your enemies and the big bad bosses are all vampires, but you hear about werewolves just enough to keep you aware of their existence in the game's world. Then, towards the end of the game, you find yourself out in the wilderness, and... well, just watch this:

If you know nothing of the game... don't be too hard on the visuals... they're bad and janky. (10:19 if it doesn't go there automatically)

I'd prefer be able to control myself rather than becoming a mindless beast through excruciating pain. Plus...

It really depends on which fiction were using. Unless your able to control your transformation than being a werewolf is a curse with an extremely painful transformation along with waking up in strange places naked and covered in gore. Do you just turn into a big wolf, are you the more typical upright wolf like creature, or do you just look like an extremely hairy person with sharp teeth? Can you only be killed by silver bullets, standard bullets (i.e. American Werewolf in London), or only by a loved one (i.e. the original Wolfman).

As for vampires, are we talking you're pretty much normal except for vampire super strength but standard vampire weaknesses. Are we talking crazy super powered vampire that turn into fog and have other magical tricks. Maybe we are talking your gross looking like Nosferatu or the super vamps from Blade 2. Or in some instances vampires are almost zombie like in Stakeland or I Am Legend (talking the novel before the big reveal at the end).

These are all important things to ask before you make a decision. Personally I always wanted my brain put into the creature from the original Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Yeah you look like a human jigsaw but you got full control of your mind, along with super strength, and no need to pray on the innocent unless you want to.

I hate vampires so it's werewolfs by default. Vampires are the soft core porn of monsters.

I'm not shocked Vampires are winning this poll. I guess a lot of people still think vampires are cool after they sparkled and looked longingly into cameras. Although, to be fair, Werewolves were besmirched too, but... Werewolves are for cool guys anyway.

I think vampires are winning because of the immortality thing. Being a werewolf is like having a period; it happens roughly once a month, last several days, it's painful, and you commit horrible atrocities you will regret.

Fuck it! I'm going by Buffy/Blade rules for being a vampire and going by American Werewolf in London(hands down best werewolf movie) rules because the OP hasn't said which fiction we are following. Given that I vote vampire.

Vampire all the way! After all feeding off othe humans isn't really a bad thing, considering the prey then becomes an immortal vampire. What's the downside to being bitten? Sure it would be terrifying and painful... But come, you gain immortality. The immortality upside seems like a reasonable trade of for a brief period of intense pain and terror

I could probably manage being a werewolf more effectively. You know when a full moon is coming so you can just lock yourself in a cage for a few days with some food. Vampires, on the other hand, have to live nocturnally and panic over garlic. Plus the constant feast for blood can get a bit inconvenient.

Vampires need to feed off blood and do so often in sexual arousal. I love sex and am heavily opposed to rape or something similar, so no thank you to biting my 'victims'.

it really depends which fiction you consider. Werewolfs have the downside of being mindless during the transformation, so you can't control or remember things afterwards. Vampires can be so full of weaknesses its not even funny...

Story time: when I was younger I was a voracious reader. My stepdad delivered for FedEx, and one day he came back with a book. He had delivered something to some guy who lived out on a lake, and this guy happened to be an author. Not famous or noteworthy, he was published but it was a very small, local thing. Anywho, my dad mentioned that I was a heavy reader, so the guy signed a copy of his new book and gave it to him to give to me as a present.

Important part: the book was about vampires and werewolves. I don't remember the specifics, as I don't recall thinking it was a very good book, but at some point a crazy old German Nazi doctor kidnapped the primary vampire and werewolf and planned to use their immortal blood to bring Hitler back to life.

This is where it gets questionable. Hitler is resurrected, but refuses to go along with the doctor's plans about a brave new world, and is insistent on trying to resurrect the Third Reich. The doctor says "eff it" and infuses himself with some concoction to turn himself into a crazy were-vampire that is all crazy and shit. Hitler dies trying to kill the abomination, and is kind of portrayed as a hero for doing so.

So the real answer to your question: a Nazi would beat them both.

Loss of fundamental agency is perhaps the most terrifying thing for me to consider. Vampire, if only because you can remain picky about what harm you do.

If I think about these two in the way I prefer them to be I don't know who is best or who would win. I think vampires would just barely win because they would have more intellect for strategy than the pure instinct of a werewolf.. damn now it sounds like werewolf should win. I can't choose!

Vampire obviously. If you are going to be an immortal being doomed to kill and outlive everything you love in an endless cycle of murder and gluttony, then pick the one where you have remotely conscious thought and can own up to being aware of what you are doing.
