Welcome to the future: Tupac's hologram performance

So at Coachella this year, I believe thanks to Dr.Dre(correct me if i am wrong), Tupac lives again through the form of a hologram. I have been looking for an HD video, but this is the best I can find. The performance is pretty damn convincing, the only thing that looks up is his horizontal movement across the stage makes it look like he is rolling on skates or something.

This is a pretty impressive feat, and something I think is going to become more widespread. If I am not mistaken, the beatles are set to have similar "reunion" where Paul and Ringo will be accompanied by holograms of John and George. So maybe this will lead to more "dead" performances, or maybe even living musicians doing concerts around the world, without traveling. Needless to say, its pretty damn exciting.

This is really creepy. And has the potential to be really exploitative. I don't like it.

I find this to be of very poor taste.

Although I'd probably watch a holo-Michael Jackson.

Very cool, but I prefer my holograms to be Anime.

I do not want this to become a thing ever. Doesn't it kinda shit all over a particular legacy. Anywho, Dre is a Dr so I am not surprised of his prowess with hologram technology.

After watching the Hatsune Miku video, I want somebody to hack Tupac to sing Hatsune Miku songs, if only to fuck with the fans. (I'd also consider the inverse, but for some reason, I have a hard time imagining that working on any level.)

Wow. I don't like this at all. We need to stop this before its too late. I wonder how many people would actually pay to see something like this? I mean if I was already at Coachella I would have checked this out but I wouldn't pay to see this as the main attraction.

That was kind of awkward. Talking to halograms of dead people is weird. It doesn't make it any less weird than talking to a video or recording of a dead person.

The tech is cool though.

Nah but really, the Tupac hologram was a lot better. I got chills when "Hail Mary" started up. I thought it was fucking sweet.

I thought the tech was really good. And since I saw it in a higher quality last night, even seeing the seams (so to speak) it really impressed me. That said, the only reason I was kind of cool with the "performance" was the whole set was about Dr. Dre's career. The only thing missing was an N.W.A. jam (I came in mid-stream, so if that happened, I missed it). Tupac would have definitely been a part had he been alive. Other than that, a Tupac tour would be...in poor taste.

It has to be a projection eventhough it is a pretty good projection. The tech is cool but I don't know about the rest.

The technology is awesome, but that's a pretty shitty use of it. I wouldn't want to pay to see an old Tupac or Beatles concert projected on the stage, defeats the purpose of live performances. It's also really fucking creepy and above all, pretty exploitative of a dead person's image.

This is excellent. Now Hollywood can come up with ways to rape dead celebs by soaking more money out of there dead corpse.
