North Carolina. Onward To Olympas, a metalcore band that got signed when I was in my senior year of high school, is from Charlotte, a city that is one county over from me. He Is Legend was also formed here, though to be honest I don't care at all for them. Between the Buried and Me is from somewhere around here.

Newfoundland, Canada..umm Great Big Sea is probably the biggest band to come out of here.

Lowell Mass, some of the ones that jump out at me and are from near here include Rob Zombie, his brother was in Powerman 5000, a couple members of Godsmack.

I live in a very small town in southeast Missouri, and Sheryl Crow was born and raised in a town about roughly 20-25 minutes from here called Kennet. I know of this because anytime I pass into that town I see a "Welcome to Kennet, Hometown of Sheryl Crow" sign. *shrug*

Are there any? I think Jewel is from Utah, if anyone knows who she is. We've also got David Archuleta, who was the runner-up on American Idol a few years back. The lead singer from the band "The Killers" lived here for a while, too. Probably the biggest musical name to ever come out of Utah is Donny Osmond, and the rest of the Osmond family.

Yeah, we rock.

I sat in the table next to her in a restaurant the other month, oddly enough.

Oh and I'm from Wilmington, DE in the US, and apparently George Thorogood was from there. Bob Marley also lived in a nearby DE city for a while.

@chrissedoff: Kim and Kelly played together there, but the Breeders didn't officially form until they were in Boston. I think. Wikipedia seems to agree with me for what that's worth.

God bless you for listing Idlewild on this site. Oh and some of those other bands are okay too. Scotland must be a great place to live if you like good music.

On topic: Absolutely nothing where I come from.. well, does anyone here know the band "Slut"? They´re from around here somewhere.

Yeah I was about to say that too.

I laugh when I hear Americans saying they are tired of Celine Dion. Guys... you've known her for only 15 years... we've been stuck with her since 1980!

Out of all those bands I listed, I only really listen to and enjoy Mogwai, which is a shame I guess. Idlewild used to record in the studio across the hall from where my band practices, and thats pretty much the only exposure I've had to them. Couldn't tell you the name of one of their songs if you asked. =P

#49 Posted by Tireyo643 (5687 posts) - 1 year, 2 months ago

There aren't any.

#50 Posted by Atlas (2137 posts) - 1 year, 2 months ago

From my part of South London: Kate Bush, Maxi Priest, some guy from the Kooks, and Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman.

As an extra note, she didn't live in my area, but Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine fame went to the same school as me.
