Only person I can think of who literally lived only a few miles away is Wale.
*Does Google search of famous people from Maryland*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_from_Maryland#Musicians
Shitload more people than I thought there'd be.
Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Boston, Mighty Mighty Bostones, Extreme, J Geils band.....
Boston area so more then I could list.
The few I can think of from my area off the top of my head: The Roots, Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dr. Dog, John Coltrane
Philadelphia, PA
Youngstown Ohio
Wikipedia says Dave Grohl - Best known as drummer for Nirvana (band) and vocalist / guitarist for Foo Fighters
Dublin, Ireland.. so:
Thin Lizzy, Snow Patrol, Redneck Manifesto, Mojo Spade, The Devine Comedy and U2
North Carolina. Onward To Olympas, a metalcore band that got signed when I was in my senior year of high school, is from Charlotte, a city that is one county over from me. He Is Legend was also formed here, though to be honest I don't care at all for them. Between the Buried and Me is from somewhere around here.
Lowell Mass, some of the ones that jump out at me and are from near here include Rob Zombie, his brother was in Powerman 5000, a couple members of Godsmack.
Are there any? I think Jewel is from Utah, if anyone knows who she is. We've also got David Archuleta, who was the runner-up on American Idol a few years back. The lead singer from the band "The Killers" lived here for a while, too. Probably the biggest musical name to ever come out of Utah is Donny Osmond, and the rest of the Osmond family.
Yeah, we rock.

..Bar Rafaeli comes from my country, she has boobs. And that's about it!
I sat in the table next to her in a restaurant the other month, oddly enough.
Oh and I'm from Wilmington, DE in the US, and apparently George Thorogood was from there. Bob Marley also lived in a nearby DE city for a while.

Oh yeah? I'm from Port Saint Lucie.
Which, on the proper topic of this thread - The closest thing we have to a known recording artist down here that I know of are VersaEmerge. 'Though apparently Vanilla Ice lives or lived here.
@chrissedoff: Kim and Kelly played together there, but the Breeders didn't officially form until they were in Boston. I think. Wikipedia seems to agree with me for what that's worth.

God bless you for listing Idlewild on this site. Oh and some of those other bands are okay too. Scotland must be a great place to live if you like good music.
On topic: Absolutely nothing where I come from.. well, does anyone here know the band "Slut"? They´re from around here somewhere.

And in our shame, Simple Plan and Celine Dion.
Yeah I was about to say that too.
I laugh when I hear Americans saying they are tired of Celine Dion. Guys... you've known her for only 15 years... we've been stuck with her since 1980!

Out of all those bands I listed, I only really listen to and enjoy Mogwai, which is a shame I guess. Idlewild used to record in the studio across the hall from where my band practices, and thats pretty much the only exposure I've had to them. Couldn't tell you the name of one of their songs if you asked. =P
