We're all African!!

This has been known for a long time, however, just to give the unexperienced and close-minded people a look on who and what we really are... here we go!
-
According to National Geographic's Genographic Project, we are all African. The DNA tests taken in many isolated native populations conclusively demonstrate that we are all no more than 2000 generations removed from Africa. The modern humans originated from a single area in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Cradle of Humanity.

Curious about what racists (including extremist religious people) and nazis has to say about this FACT, a fact that UNDENIABLY is 100% TRUE.

This is old news to anyone with a brain.

yep, let me quote Einstein on this:
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

You could probably discover what they had to say about it when they found out about it 50-70 years ago if you looked it up.

Even biblical creationists acknowledge a common origin, they just think it was a little to the northeast in a garden.

And I'm a creationist with an open mind. I respect scientific logic, but I also don't see why God couldn't have used Natural Selection to create man. Anyway I won't get into this any more. Been down that road on an internet forum and it goes nowhere.

Yes well, all of us can be traced back to Africa. Technically yes, we're all African, but I obviously don't consider myself actually African.

#9 Posted by Jayge_ (10222 posts) -

Given that I've adapted genetically to colder and snowier environments, I'd say I've evolved slightly past being African.

Slightly.

It's more than likely you're at least part Caucasian, given the large foreign population in Argentina.

I can understand 13-14 year olds not understnding it, the problem is with the number of adults who understand or believe it.

One thing you have to consider is that we are all African only in a sense that if you track our biological identity back millions and millions of years. That doesn't make it any less true but it doesn't really make it relevant. I mean, it reminds me of the arguement of illegal immigration in America being a bad thing because the settlers there were all illegal immigrants in the first place, which is a lazy arguement as at the time, it was a totally different situation from all perspectives.

It has something to do with all of us sharing the same Myto(something) DNA.

This is why I have a problem with the one-drop rule. Under that rule, every single person in the United States is black. Racism is debunked by science, but you have to expect that some people are not rational thinkers.

Racists wouldn't care. They would say that's old and just because there is that tiny bit of African in everyone, some people are more African than others. So those people should be killed or w/e.

Here you go. This is a good video explaining how we are able to use genetics to trace back our common human ancestry.

Go back further and we all came from the same star-dust.  Which came from the same mass of matter(?) at the start of time, so everything is related.

There's so much evidence pointing towards evolution, I don't understand how anyone can deny it. It's not like global warming where there is a valid concern that we're not the cause of it.

I guess it depends.  Some people were raised in a strictly religious house, so anything else that go against it seems impossible or bad.  Other people could just be stubborn, we all know how stubborn people can be with politics.

Just because you need to deny the existence of God to serve yourself doesn't mean you need to declare anyone who serves something greater than themselves and greater than this present life an idiot. I'm glad the word of God is the standard of truth and not you're own exchanging of that truth for a lie.
#40 Posted by Jayge_ (10222 posts) -

Yeah, Josh. You can just go search for a religion thread to put that in.

I won't say anything else about it, but if someone says anyone who believes in God is stupid I think it's fair game for at least one comment. But, again I won't make this a debate about religion.

They used the same techniques that put rapists and murderers in jail using DNA tests, and the same techniques used in Paternity tests. If you deny this evidence, you also deny the entire field of genetics, which would require some pretty damn bold statements, and a bucketfull of ignorance.

Basically, over time, there is a fairly steady rate of DNA mutation. Sometimes a gene will code incorrectly, and this error will be present in all of the  offspring you produce (so in the same way that teachers looking for people copying other people's work in maths class - they don't look for common correct answers, they look for common MISTAKES). These are DNA markers. You can track DNA markers on Y-Chromosomes, which are only passed from father to son, or on Mitochondrial DNA, which is only passed from mother to daughter. A few years back they did massive DNA studies of indigenous populations in the world, and they found a pattern of migration in every continent, all of which can be traced back into Africa.

Each time a big migration happened, it coincided with climate shifts seen in archaeological and geological evidence. Populations who stayed put and didn't migrate from Africa got unique "markers" that are present in themselves, and in the settlers that migrated from the area, but *are not* present in migrations that happened before the genetic marker took place. So not only can we tell that we're all from Africa, we can tell you which parts of the earth were colonized by humans first. The first such migration went into parts of Asia and Australia. There were later migrations to Asia, but none to Australia - and this is why Aboriginal Australians are quite unique compared to Eurasians - they had a very small amount of genetic diversity, and split from the rest of the world early on, only to be isolated by climate shift until Europeans settled/conquered the land in the 18th century.

There is one community of people in Africa who are the direct descendants of the community of humans in Africa who migrated to colonise the rest of the world. They possess every marker present in every wave of colonization that occurred accross the world, except for the ones developed after the colonists had left the region. As mentioned before, DNA markers appear at a very regular rate, so one may even place a timeline on when the migrations occurred. Using Mitochondrial DNA, we can trace the acestory back to our "most recent common matrilineal ancestor", and using Y-Chromsomal DNA, we can trace it back to the "most recent common patrilineal ancestor". The mitochondial DNA leads back to a single woman in sub-saharan Africa living ~ 100,000 years ago, who has been dubbed "Mitochondrial Eve", and Y-Chromosomal DNA leads back to a man who was dubbed "Y-Chromosomal Adam", who lived ~ 50,000 years ago. These two individuals are the MOST RECENT person to which EVERY HUMAN is related too on the planet, by direct decendance. They were not the first, because every parent of these two individuals is also a common ancestory - just not the most recent one.

Actually their Catholicism is not a factor. The official position of the Catholic church is that evolution DID occur, and that life arose naturally, and the only time god-interfered at all was to create the big bang, and when miracles occur.

Other than those two factors, they defer to science.

Which is more than I can say for most protestants, specifically those darn baptists.
