Currently I use avast, but I'm wondering what other options there are out there. Not that I'm having a problem, but I'm just curious to see if there's some clear "top dog".
What antivirus and antispyware software do you use?

I don't use anything myself. Common Sense 2013 I guess.
Using nothing at all when there are some great free programs out there doesn't sound anything like common sense to me...
Now why would I waste the bandwidth?
But seriously I just don't encounter viruses, I only use my PC to play games on steam and edit video so there aren't any real risks. So I just kinda don't install them out of laziness/not wanting more things to have to boot up with the OS. Also they can cause weird compatibility issues with some of my video hardware. Not all of them but It's not worth disturbing my PC's delicate "ecosystem".
Windows actually really stepped up its game with Microsoft Security Essentials. I've had no problems with it ever since I switched from McAfee and it has been really good.
Microsoft Security Essentials....its really great, lightweight, and free. Now its built into windows like it should be.

Yup I stopped using McAfee after doing a clean install of Windoes 8. They've done some great security upgrades for 8.

And this. My desktop is a Win 8 machine and I use an Air for my laptop.
@Aegon: It's not that Apple is a fortress that can't be breached it's just that nobody bothers that OS when Windows is just more prevalent.
People just don't make virus for macs. But there was a really ugly worm going around Macs earlier this year I remember.@jdh5153 said:

Is there really absolutely no way to get a virus on those things?

There is but they are usually few and far between. It's a lot easier to exploit an OS that mostly everyone uses including businesses. The last noteworthy Mac virus was a while back, but it was a particularly nasty one.

And like most bad stuff out there common sense is more than enough to avoid that thing. It helps to be smart on both Windows and Mac.
Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and as long as you're not retarded and click sketchy links it works just fine.
I can could the times I'd have a serious infection on the PCs I've owned, and the last time was a handful of years ago when I "just had to" download some shady trainer for some game I was frustrated with but still wanted to get some enjoyment out of via cheats (and modern games don't have proper official cheats... fuck the game industry of today.. give me god mode and big head mode you dicks... honestly). I hear more about viruses from family members that don't know computer common sense than I do from my own pc, most of who are constantly sending me those amazingly stereotypical chain email bullshit like jokes or random poems and shit... it's beyond just internet common sense at some point, at some point it's something that makes me question how fucking stupid these people are. How can I have respect for someone that keeps thinking I'd be into hearing about some story that's 20 levels below something in the classified in a tabloid mag, you all know how deep and stupid the internet can go and I get this shit on the weekly from people I 'love'.
..wait this thread is about which softwarez we use right? shit.
Currently I have the software that's available to anyone that owns Windows(defender/firewall plus router firewall), and nothing more. Win8 has it's own stuff that basically just warns me every time I pirate a game, though lately it's pointing at explorer.exe often... not sure about that one.
I look at it this way, a virus on my PC will do nothing to my physical health and mind. I carry nothing on my PC but games and porn, both of which aren't harmed by deletion (they live in the cloud). So what do I care if every 3 years I accidentally do something that ruins my bootloader... I enjoy re-installing Windows anyways, gives me an excuse for clearing junk off my hard drives that I didn't notice before.
EDIT: I'm going to install the previously mentioned ClamWin. Cause I'm one of those people that gets enjoyment from installing software that's new... thanks @kalmis

One of the biggest misconceptions made about computer security is that mac's don't get viruses. And also the belief that mac's dont get viruses because people dont make viruses for them. There are viruses out there for macs, and you certainly can get viruses on your mac computer. They are certainly less widespread then on windows, but the threat is still present.
Microsoft Security Essentials and the one that tells me not to click on emails for "dick pills" and links from someone you don't know at all or shortened urls without at least hovering the mouse over it first to find out where it leads.
Avast for antivirus, Malwarebites for antispyware.
I also run the NoScript extension on my browser, just in case.

Microsoft Security Essentials. It's fast, lightweight and free. Other than that, I just use common sense and don't visit sketchy websites.
