What are the most embarrassing songs in your Ipod ?

#1 Posted by bartok (2371 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

My girlfriend borrowed my Ipod and was giving me shit for my taste in music mainly the fact that I have Crazy Town's Butterfly. (Screw her that song is catchy)
So I was looking through my library and here are some of the more embarrassing entries :

Mark Henry's wrestling entrance theme (The one done by Oscar winning  Three Six Mafia)
The entire album Sports by Huey Lewis and the News (insert reference to American Psycho here)
The entire catalog of Black Sabbath w/ Ronnie James Dio and several solo albums.
Limp Bizkit's cover of Behind Blue Eyes featuring a Speak n' Say (I honestly don't remember downloading this one but it is too awesomely awful to delete)

Party in the USA AND Hoedown Throwdown.

#3 Edited by Canberra (1065 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

I have a Marble Madness piano medley.
"Love me, please love me" by Michel Polnareff -  the parts where he's not singing in French are almost unbearably sappy.
Don't stop believin' (as if i could stop if i tried)

(I made this topic like a year ago, but it needs to be brought back!)

Here's my list -- though I'm not embarrassed to put ANYTHING on my Ipod

1. "The Wings" from the Brokeback Mountain Soundtrack
2. "Saturday Night Fever" -- The Beegees
3. "My Heart Will Go On" -- Celine Dion

I think those are the three biggest offenders.

I don't know, I put the music on there because I like it.
Not because I care about what other people think, that's just sad.

But the song closest to being "embarrassing" must be like, the Duck Tales theme or something.
And I don't even really think that it is embarrassing, since it kicks ass.

@ZeForgotten:  That totally played in my head when you mentioned it.

WOO OOO

I don't use an ipod, but I can't really think of any music on my player or in my library I'm embarrassed by.  If you like it, why be embarrassed?   You also should definitely not be embarrassed by your Huey Lewis or your Dio.  Considering that music has been pretty close to an unlistenable wasteland for me  since the mid-90's or so.  I'd probably take those selections over 90% of the "music" that many people here have on their players.  (Yes, I'm old and crotchety and I've turned into my father)

EDIT= Added the bold to make it absolutely clear that I'm not stating this as some sort of undeniable fact but as simply my opinion of most new music.

Agreed, no one cares if I like a few "embarrassing" songs.  But, who knows?  Maybe I should be ashamed of having the full theme to ICarly "Leave it All to Me", Selena Gomez's "Naturally" and one-time internet meme " Caramelldansen" on my Ipod.   I like them because they are catchy, upbeat and and fun to dance to.
#13 Posted by bartok (2371 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago
@Jasonofindy:
I'm not so much embarrassed as I am just tired of defending my love of Ronnie James Dio and Huey Lewis just like I am tired of explaining that the Butthole Surfers are not a novelty band.
#14 Posted by oldschool (7265 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

I have an extremely eclectic mix of music from the last 50 years and I am never embarrassed by any of it.  Here is my 50 most played songs, you tell me which I should be ashamed of:

I bet my dick you're just trying to stir up shit.... How are the godfathers of heavy metal and creators of riffs and and kickass singing embaressing to have on your ipod ?

I dont put embaressing music on my phone, its rock and metal only. My pc, however, does have a some R'n'b and all that bullshit, but it doesnt make more than 3% of all my music so it's unnoticable.
#16 Posted by Psykhophear (918 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

I would say most of the boy band artists like Backstreet Boys and 80s and 90s stuff like Vanilla Ice, Celine Dion, Duran Duran, Michael Learns to Rock, Pet Shop Boys, Beastie Boys, etc.

I grew up with those music :P. At least they play better than today's music. God, I hate today's music so much (Mostly on the radio and MTV).

@Ahmad_Metallic:
Not trying to stir shit up it is just most of my friends are hipsters and turn there noses at my love of Dio.

And that makes you embarrassed?
Grow a fucking spine and have someone force your balls to drop :P

You seriously care way to much if that is actually making you feel embarrassed.
Such a shame, being controlled by others that way
#21 Posted by Romination (2730 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

Backstreet boys. I actually have no shame about this, but I know other people would be like "T3h lulz". I'd have N*Sync but I can't remember where I put those CDs.

Also Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer. My girlfriend actually mocked me about that one.

#22 Edited by Trilogy (2177 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

Toxic by Britney Spears.

#23 Posted by Majkiboy (895 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

#32 Posted by Pipiporapa (23 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

#33 Posted by Dysnomia (689 posts) - 3 years, 24 days ago

I'm not really embarrassed by the music on my iPod, what I'm embarrassed about though is how many times I've played The Fratellis' Costello Music album in comparison to the other albums.

It's like triple than my 2nd most listened to..

IMO, never be ashamed of what you like. Sure, there are social norms but don't let them dictate who you are.

That one by R Kelly where he's trapped in a closet, with the pasture and his gay lover.

Trapped in a closet i think it's called? Haha, it's such a funny song.
