Perhaps I should rephrase: The notion of an absolute truth has no bearing on reality. We came up with it, but actually demonstrating one in nature is impossible. Therefore the statement "there are no absolute truths" is in itself really meaningless, even if you know what I mean by it. Therefore it does not violate itself be cause it doesn't really make a claim that can be violated.
I actually just wrote a paper basically refuting the whole notion of "I think therefore I am," which is the one absolute truth that most people will agree on. I am not a fan of Rationalist thinking (The idea that "truth" must be built on premises which cannot be debated), which is a pre-requisite of absolute knowledge and, I would argue, is self-defeating.

Suicide is never selfless. Unless you're Arnold, then 9 times out of 10 it's not. But let's be realistic, he wouldn't kill himself, he'd just shoot more mother fuckers and get his whiny daughter back.

There is always the possibility that OP is taking the piss...
It is often a selfish thing but I'm surprised by the amount of hate I see for those who are willing to commit it. Firstly, it really depends on what situation the person who commits it is in, if they're part of a loving family then yes, their actions are going to be unbelievably damaging but there are people out there who have no family, and no friends. It's also often perceived as the cowards way out whereas it takes people a lot of mental preparation, and courage to really go through with it. People who are experiencing extreme depression also often have their judgement incredibly clouded, and often can't make a logical choice over whether suicide is the right answer or not. It's also very sad to know that there have been so many people in that much pain that they've felt they had to end it that way. Lastly, I don't usually have a go at users of the site but @Ryax: the things you've said in this thread have been disgusting. If you plan on acting like that in the forums on the future you can get off of here right now.

I can't really vote in this topic. It's selfish in regards to the fact that a person does it out of their own self-interest to alleviate mental or physical pain, but I wouldn't say it's evil or wrong. One kills oneself because of depression or some other mental disorder because of a sense of dread or hopelessness, so really suicide is just the outcome of depression or bipolar disorder, just like death is the outcome of AIDS or polio. Selfishness in the moral sense doesn't really apply to an action like that.
And why would suicide ever be "selfless?" That makes no sense, unless you're talking about sacrifice in the line of duty.
