I really liked Lily Allens last album. I liked the gritty cynicism of the lyrics. Quite wiity but oh so true. So she comes out with this new single "The Fear", and ok from a musical standpoint the beats are better than anything on her last album but the lyrics just irk me.
It still has the cynicism of her last album but it doesn't work for her anymore. "I wanna be rich and I want lots of money" -- she does? It's oh so ironic. She made it - why is she still moaning about the same things. Unless the verses are like a look back to her younger self or something?
Granted I'm sure the album as a whole will have a different vibe but... I feel like she got scared to change the formula that worked for her last record so wrote about the same things again.
What Does Everyone Think Of The New Lily Allen Track?

"All I know is, she's that chick who had those great nip-slips."She's also probably the most original pop artist of the 00's. In my opinion anyway. Which is why I'm so miffed by the new track. It's hardly as groundbreaking as LDN.
I mean, LDN's lyrics are bloody brilliant:
Riding through the city on my bike all day
Cause the filth took away my licence
It doesn't get me down and I feel ok
Cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless
Everything seems to look as it should
But I wonder what goes on behind doors
A fella looking dapper, but he's sittin with a slapper
Then I see it's a pimp and his crack whore
You might laugh you might frown
Walkin' round London town
"All I know is that she looks fucked up without make-up."I think she looks more attractive but she's lost the edge that made her original looking like that. I hate to criticise the way people look but she was kinda a trendsetter when she first emerged with the chavvy ear-rings, trainers and dress.
EDIT: Oh, you mean without makeup at all.
I liked a few tracks of her first album, but not this, this lacks anything I like

"I couldn't comment on the meaning of the lyrics, but the song is nice to listen to, good voice ...plus she's a bit of a looker too! Haven't got her album though."
You sir are being deceived by the great deceiver of men. I agree she does look hot, very my type that's for sure, but you should really see some pics of her when she is not caked in make up. She looks scary. I really don't mean to sound so cruel, it's not in my nature to be so, but like I say, I have seen scary pics.
I may well have been brainwashed by my GF though :) She constantly tells me she is ugly, when I say I think she looks hot. She grabs her "lady magazines" and points to very unflattering pics.
I've never been a fan of Lily because while she says all this stuff about being common, her dad's a famous thesp and she's probably had a better upbringing than most of the people buying her stuff.
I forgot her Dad was famous too.
To be fair her original album wasn't really that much about money; more about gritty London and getting chatted up in pubs and stuff.
